Govt okays 37 packages for organ transplant outside Raj

Among the 37 packages finalised for organ transplants outside the state, Rs11 lakh is the highest package rate fixed, which is for liver transplant (liver transplant surgery, including donor hepatectomy for liver donor) and same will be for the bone marrow transplant (allogenic bone marrow transplant-Haplo). The pre and follow up packages of transplant has also been included in 37 packages. The package rate will be reimbursed to the patients after the transplant or the actual cost of transplant, whichever is lowest.

If the transplant cost exceeds the package rate, the patients will have to pay from the pocket. A list of 37 packages with rates has been released along with the guidelines of availing these outside Rajasthan, under theChiranjeevihealth Insurance scheme, said, a Health department official. by the principal of the medical college will be constituted to decide if a patient needs a transplant. The two members of the committee will be experts of the specialty and one member which will be nominated byRajasthanState Health Assurance Agency.

The RSHAA will collect the details from the hospital where transplant takes place. If RSHAA finds the bills are fraud, thenlegalaction will be taken. There is a provision in the guidelines made for easy travel of the patients to outside state for transplant.

The Rajasthan government will reimburse the actual air fares for patient and one attendant or Rs 1 lakh whichever is lowest for going and coming back.
