As the nation celebrates 75 years of independence, it is time for parliament to pass anBillreserving 50% seats in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Sabha for Women, said deputy chairperson of theMaharashtraLegislative Council, Neelam Gorhe. She was speaking at the inaugural session of the first-ever national legislators conference in Mumbai.
The three-day conference is expected to be attended by 2,500 legislators. She saidMaharashtrawas the first to ensure 50% quota for women in local self-government bodies.
