The Godhan NYAY Yojana in Chhattisgarh has emerged as a new hope for Women who manufacture vermicompost and do other economic activities in Gauthans.
It has resulted in empowering the women economically and providing them livelihood .
Members of the Sadguru Women Self-help Group and Farmer Welfare Committee in the Gauthan of Donde village in Pakhanjur Tehsil have earned Rs. 21.57 lakh through the manufacture of vermicompost, pisciculture, mushroom, vegetable cultivation, Poultry farming and from the sale of earthen lamps prepared from cow dung.
The President of the Sadguru Womens Self-Help Group, Nareshwari Kotwar, said the women in her group are manufacturing vermicompost from the cow dung purchased in Gauthans.
She said 13,200 quintals of cow dung were purchased in Gauthan; 3,614.92 quintals of vermicompost and 570 quintals of supercompost were manufactured by cooperative committees. This helped them earn a net income of Rs. 15.07 lakh.
Additionally, the sale of earthworms fetched them Rs. 1.77 lakh.
All 19 members of the womens self-help group have earned Rs. 113,000 each, which enabled them to arrange fee for their childrens Education.
