First Indian Geo Park In MP

Lamheta, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh will be Home to India’s first geological park.

Highlights:

Geopark is a united region that promotes the sustainable protection and use of geological heritage. It also contributes to the residents’ economic well-being.

The park was approved by the Geological Survey of India, which is part of the Ministry of Mines. The park will be built with a Rs 35 crore on a five-acre plot of land.

The geological park will be developed in Lamheta since it is one of the world’s most significant geological locations.

William Henry Sleeman unearthed a Dinosaur fossil in this location in 1928. Lamheta has also been designated as a geo historic monument by UNESCO.
