Cyberexperts to educate citizens on digital threats

Cybercrimehas been on the rise for the past three years, and it’s crucial to stay vigilant. In 2022 alone, the cybercrime helpline – 1930 – received a staggering 70,183 complaints related to financial frauds. Between 2022 and 2023, out of the 5,091 complaints received, 2,382 were related to sextortion. Ahmedabad has become a prime target for cybercriminals. In response, the Police force has taken proactive measures to raise awareness among citizens.

The Cybercell of Gujarat CID (crime) recently partnered with the Department of Telecom (DoT) circle in a significant drive to deactivate 29,552 mobile numbers suspected of being used by cybercriminals or acquired through fake identity documents.
