Companies should come forth to plant trees in MP: Minister

Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has said that big companies of the country acquire land for construction and quarrying works, in return development of forests is necessary. Such companies should come to Madhya Pradesh and come forward in the development of forests through Forest Development Corporation. Forest Minister Dr Shah was inaugurating the Regional Office of Forest Development Corporation in Indore on Thursday.

Forest Minister Shah said that companies can get carbon credits in exchange for the development of forests. He said that discussions have been held with various coal companies and administration in this matter.

The Forest Minister said that there is a need for more forests in the Nimar-Malwa region and since Indore is the main centre of the corporate, work will be done by creating more coordination between the Forest Department and various private companies. Regional office has been started with this intention.
