Chief ministerAshok Gehlot approved a financial proposal of Rs 14,200 crore for the construction of various works under the EasternRajasthanCanal Project (ERCP).
The proposal also includes increasing the height of theBisalpur damby 0.5 metre and to develop 202.42km long water transport system. Besides, the proposal involves augmentation of the water management system keeping in view the additional drinking water requirements of Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk districts till 2040 under the ERCP. It will also cater to the additional demand of 16.82 TMC drinking water for the remaining rural areas of Jaipur district.
ERCP has been launched to solve the problem of Irrigation and drinking water in 13 districts of Eastern Rajasthan.
