CM Hemant launches SAHAY scheme to nurture rural sports

Chief Minister Hemant Soren today launched ‘SAHAY (Sports Action towards Harnessing Aspiration of Youths) from Kolhan Division to polish and nurture sports talents of rural areas of State.

Through scheme, in first phase, 72,000 youths of 14 to 19 years of Naxal-affected districts including Chaibasa, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Khunti, Gumla and Simdega will get an opportunity to show their skills in field of sports.

Talented youth in sports up to Panchayat, Ward, Block and District level will get an opportunity to show their skills in other sports including hockey, football, volleyball and athletics.

The scheme will be operated by the Sports Department. The objective of scheme is to motivate youth of Naxal affected areas towards a positive life by giving them an identity through sports. In competitions organized under scheme, winners and runners-up at district and state level will also be honored by giving incentives.

Players of Jharkhand are making a splash in field of sports. SAHAY Yojana has been started with the objective of promoting sports further. Sports will be organized at every level. I personally have an eye on the plan. Players are urged to come forward.
