China in mind, Centre ramps up Arunachal border road infra

The 1800-km Frontier Highway, Indias first highway proposed by the MHA at Chinas doorsteps along theMcMahon Line in Arunachal Pradesh, got a major push after the road transport and highways ministry approved six corridors connecting this highway with two other parallel highways in the state Trans-Arunachal Highwayand theArunachal East-West Corridor.

The MORTH stated that the Frontier Highway has been proposed by the ministry of Home affairs along the international border of India/China in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The length of this highway is about 1,859 km at present. DPR of this highway is being prepared by the ministry.

MORTH stated that presently there are two arterial routes NH-15 which runs longitudinally along the foothills bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and NH-13/NH-215 known as the Trans Arunachal Highways which runs through Arunachal Pradesh from east to west.
