Chief ministerBhupesh Baghelhas stressed on the need to promote the production of organic manure and vermicomposting at national level to encourage which can help in overcoming chemical fertilizer shortage.
While addressing the meeting of State-Level Disha Committee (Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee), the CM said that, “This would not only improve Soil Health but would also provide better quality of agricultural produce. Covid crisis had affected the supply of raw material for production chemical Fertilizers, which led to the shortage of overall supply of these fertilizers.”
Baghel said thatChhattisgarhis the only state in the country to have declared support price to produce Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. The millet production is being promoted in the state under the Millet Mission. Seven districts of Bastar division, five of Surguja along with Kawardha andRajnandgaonhave been included under the mission. Forest region have low Irrigation capacity and Millets take lesser time to produce. Hence, the production of millet in such areas can provide a good Source Of Income to the dwellers. Arrangements are also being made to procure and market the millets, he said.
MNREGA should be linked with agricultural works. This will greatly benefit the farmers and significantly reduce the production cost. A proposal in the context has been sent to the Centre, said the CM.
