Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel emphasises need to promote organic manure to battle fertiliser shortage

Chief ministerBhupesh Baghelhas stressed on the need to promote the production of organic manure and vermicomposting at national level to encourage which can help in overcoming chemical fertilizer shortage.

Baghel said thatChhattisgarhis the only state in the country to have declared support price to produce Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. The millet production is being promoted in the state under the Millet Mission. Seven districts of Bastar division, five of Surguja along with Kawardha andRajnandgaonhave been included under the mission. Forest region have low Irrigation capacity and Millets take lesser time to produce. Hence, the production of millet in such areas can provide a good Source Of Income to the dwellers. Arrangements are also being made to procure and market the millets, he said.

MNREGA,Pradhan Mantri GramSadak Yojana (PMGSY),Pradhan MantriAwas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan MantriKaushal Vikas Yojana, Digital India, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Health Mission, National Rural Drinking Water Program were also reviewed during the meeting.

MNREGA should be linked with agricultural works. This will greatly benefit the farmers and significantly reduce the production cost.
