Chhattisgarh: CHIRAAG to light up spirits of tribal farmers, boost development

Chief ministerBhupesh Baghel inaugurated ambitious project ChhattisgarhInclusive Rural and Accelerated Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture Growth (CHIRAAG), with an aim to transform lives of people of Bastar region that will focus on lightening up the tribal belt.

CM called it as one of the biggest projects towards transforming the lives of tribals.
Launching project CHIRAAG worth Rs 1,735 crore, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the Central government has ignored the needs of Chhattisgarh farmers and did injustice to them by not providing proper support in paddy procurement process as well as sufficient supply of Fertilizers like diammonium phosphate.

Chhattisgarh has yet managed the crisis by the grace of mahtari (motherland) and cows and we launched ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana, with the help of which, we produced 12 lakh quintals of vermicompost from the cow dung. Hence, we met the requirement without any dearth of DAP fertilizer for agricultural production as state can use the compost made of dung.

CHIRAAG project will be implemented in 14 districts of state, our main objective will focus on ensuring income generating avenues for farmers in tribal belt and introduce advanced and technical agricultural ideas based on climatic conditions of the place, to add value to agricultural product for better gains, provide nutritious food and intelligent utilization and management of natural resources.
