Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said the government is always ready to empower the steel sector, which he underlined performed even during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He was addressing the All India Steel Conclave, attended by steel industrialists from across the country.
He said the steel is the backbone of the state’s economy. The last few years the industry has been facing many challenges.
The states Industrial Policy backed the industries and they continued with their production even during the pandemic. The power tariff exemption and ensuring coal supply was done to support the sector, he said.
Baghel said the condition of roads has deteriorated because of coal mines, adversely affecting transportation and increasing the cost.
