The Chhattisgarh government announced various sops for promoting electric vehicles which include waiver of road tax and registration fee.
Also, the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) will be reimbursed for manufacture of electric vehicles. Electricity tariff for charging stations will be waived.
An official Communication said the state has set a target of procuring four lakh electric vehicles by 2026-27.
There will be 100percent road tax exemption on all electric vehicles purchased during the first two years from the date of commencement of this policy. Road tax exemption on all-electric vehicles purchased in the next two years and one year will be 50 percent and 25 percent respectively, the communication said.
To develop the manufacturing enterprise, the government will give a grant of 25 percent of the cost of plant and machinery.
The government is also going to allot 500-1,000 acres of land to develop an electric vehicle park to woo the manufacturers.
The participation of the people of Chhattisgarh will be encouraged along with promoting the establishment of electric vehicle supply and charging .
