In an effort to establish a census data workstation to promote research on census microdata, directorate of census operations (DCO), Nadu, and National institute of technology-Trichy (NIT-T) signed a memorandum of understanding.
The MoU was signed by representatives of the DCO Sajjan Singh R Chavan, (director) andV K Subha(deputy director) and G Aghila, director of NIT-Trichy.
NIT-Trichy is the first among the 31 centrally funded NITs to facilitate collaborative research on census data, thus providing a consolidated platform for researchers and data enthusiasts to analyze data generated during census operations in a secure manner. The office of the registrar general of India has set up workstations in different universities to make anonymized census microdata available to qualified researchers for study.
