In a span of a month,Telanganapolice have traced and handed over 1,000 lost cellphones to their owners throughCentral Equipment Identity Register(CEIR).
CEIR portal, aimed at curbing mobile theft, started functioning in from April 19. Hands-on training was provided to 60 master trainers from the Police department through the department of telecommunications (DoT) and CEIR user IDs were provided to all 780 police stations in the 31 police units.
