Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat has sought approval for proposals worth Rs 615.48 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and declaration of six state highways along with the Rishikesh-Bhaniyawala highways as national highways. Rawat presented these demands while meeting the Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari in the national Capital.

He further said that the state highway 24 is used for travelling between Rishikesh and Dehradun. Being a double-lane road, it is inadequate for high traffic density. Widening this road will enable convenient access to all Char Dhams from the Dehradun airport.

However, since it is not notified as a national highway, it is being excluded from schemes of the Road Transport and Highways ministry.

Ropeway project to make Kedarnath Yatra more accessible: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the gift of ropeway project to the State for making the Kedarnath Yatra more accessible. The work on the ropeway project would commence soon. Addressing a public meeting at Agastyamuni in Rudraprayag district on Monday, the CM said that the work on Kedarnath reconstruction is going on at a fast pace. He said that safe conduction of the Yatra was a challenge but the task was accomplished by the support of the public representatives and the administration. He said that the work on the Karnprayag- Rishikesh RAILWAY line is also going at a fast pace and more and more pilgrims would visit the State in future. Dhami said that the is committed to provide EMPLOYMENT to the youth and create self employment opportunities for them. He said that soon recruitment on seven thousand posts would be done by the Public Service Commission. The CM said that the State government has set a target to make one lakh Women as Lakhpati Didis. He said that one thousand new orchards are being developed in the State.

The CM laid the foundation stone of a Nursing college at Kothadi village on the occasion. The college would be constructed at a cost of Rs 20.44 crore. He directed the officers to ensure that the construction work of the college is completed on time. Dhami said that a mini stadium at Dharcot in Agastyamuni would be constructed.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has termed his meeting with his Uttar Pradesh (UP) counterpart Yogi Adityanath on the long pending dispute of distribution of assets as historic for the people of Uttarakhand. Dhami returned to provisional State Capital Dehradun after the end of his three day visit to Lucknow on Saturday evening. He was accorded a warm welcome by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on his return in Dehradun.

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, president of Uttarakhand BJP Madan Kaushik and other leaders were present to receive the CM.

Expressing his gratitude to the UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Dhami said that the issue which was pending from last 21 years due to lack of strong will was discussed point by point and understanding on every issue was reached.

Under the agreement reached, the land of the bus stand in Kichha would be handed over to Uttarakhand in 15 days and pending payment of Rs 90 crore would be given to the forest department of the state. The permission for water Sports and tourism in Dhora, Begul and Nanak Sagar reservoirs has been given to the State.

TheUttarakhand tourism departmenthas planned to set up what it has termed a ‘tourism force’ to aid visitors coming to the Himalayan state.

Titled ‘paryatan veers’, the personnel will interact with hotels and resorts and keep an update on the staff working there.

Ukhand Govt working on principle of Antyodaya, says CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the Uttarakhand government is working on the principle of Antyodaya under which efforts are being made to provide the benefit of government schemes to the last person standing on the social ladder. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Pahal 2021 organised by Uttarakhand Jan Vikas Samiti.

The CM said that the Uttarakhand Government provided relief packages for affected people in different sectors during the pandemic of Covid-19. He informed that economic packages were given in Health, tourism and transport sectors and incentives were provided to the frontline health workers during the pandemic period.

The Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Sukhbir Singh Sandhu has said telemedicine service is an important scheme to save the lives of the people residing in the mountainous areas of the state because it is very difficult for the patients to reach a hospital equipped with facilities on time.

In the meeting, the CS directed the officers of Health department and district administrations of all the districts to provide better connectivity and set up required infrastructural facilities for the telemedicine service in the State. He directed the secretary, health to set up a dedicated team for the service and said that at least three IT experts should be deployed to ensure better connectivity. He said that an effective plan should be made in the districts based on the feedback of the doctors and IT experts so that the hindrances in smooth execution of the service are removed.

HC seeks update on wetlands across U’khand

TheUttarakhandhigh court (HC), in response to a PIL concerning Sukha Tal in Nainital, which has witnessed numerous unauthorised constructions despite being a wetland, has directed the government to provide a comprehensive status report on allwetlandsin the state within four weeks.
Furthermore, the HC has ordered the court commission to submit its report within two weeks, assessing whether the administration has taken any action in compliance with the previous order regarding Sukha Tal.

The government and various voluntary organisations have been providing ration and other relief material to people affected adversely by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, menstrual hygiene is one aspect which was not addressed by many. Considering this, one voluntary organisation is providing sanitary napkins to women in need amidst the pandemic.

The initiative of spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene started in May last year during the Covid-19 outbreak. The organisation started working on the outskirts of Dehradun like in villages around Ranipokhri where Women were told about the dos and donts to maintain menstrual hygiene and were provided with sanitary pads, face masks and sanitisers to keep themselves safe and healthy.

People living in the villages are not as aware of the seriousness of the pandemic so their volunteers are also visiting the Covid-19 affected villages where they distribute face masks, oxymeters, steamers, thermometers and medicines to the villagers.

Doon to get country’s 1st Neo Metro, Haridwar Pod taxis

Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation(UKMRC) will construct state-of-the-art rapid transit systems inDehradun,Haridwarand Rishikesh within next four years to ease traffic congestion, its MD Jitendra Tyagi said.

The country’sfirst Neo Metrowill start on two corridors in Dehradun. Also, Haridwar will see the country’s first Pod taxi,” he said, adding that the move will give a major boost to Environment-friendly and cost-effective public transport in the state.

Neo Metro is the rubber tyre-based mass transit system that draws power from an overhead electric conductor. It runs on a dedicated elevated track. Provide on Demand (Pod) taxis are driverless electric vehicles that move on a specially designed track.

In addition, the corporation will complete two ropeways in Haridwar and Rishikesh for better travel experience of tourists coming from all over the world for pilgrimage and spiritual solace.

Taking note of complaints that many hospitals are refusing treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana (AAUY) and State Government Health Scheme (SGHS) despite being in the panel of these schemes, the chairman of State Health Agency D K Kotia has ordered punitive action against such hospitals. He directed the director hospital Management of the SHA to initiate action against the hospitals that are refusing treatment under PMJAY, AAUY and SGHS to the beneficiaries and those who are charging money from patients.

He said that such hospitals can be removed from the list of panels of these schemes and punitive action under Clinical Establishment Act, Uttarakhand Epidemic Diseases, Covid 19 regulation 2020 and Epidemic Diseases Act 1987 would be taken against them.
