99.4% of Uttar Pradesh lives in high pollution areas

The Indo-gangetic region is one of the most polluted regions in the country given the fact that it is landlocked. UP lies in this region and at least 99.4% of the states Population resides in areas which exceed the permissible limits of Air Pollution. This was highlighted in a webinar titled solving Uttar Pradeshs air pollution crisis while keeping pace with the development organised byClimate Trendson International Clean Air Day.

Dr Surya Kant said, high air pollution levels are not only causing respiratory disorders in people in UP but also neurological ailments.

There is a need to make the common man aware of air pollution and its impacts, said Arunima Sinha.

UP govt plans to establish State Sports Authority

In a bid to enhance facilities for players in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to establish the UP Sports Authority, taking inspiration from the successful model implemented in Gujarat.

The proposed authority will function as an independent unit and the Sports department has prepared a comprehensive proposal which will soon be presented to the cabinet for approval. Once authorised, the process of setting up the sports authority will commence, making UP the second state in the country to establish a State Sports Authority, following Gujarat, a senior government official told this reporter here on Thursday.

Until now, sports-related programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting athletes have been undertaken through the Directorate of Sports in the state. However, the government believes that an independent unit is necessary to further develop sports in UP, enabling better facilities and fostering player encouragement.

The government envisions numerous benefits with the establishment of the sports authority. Players can expect access to modern equipment, improved dietary provisions, advanced training facilities and specialised sports medicine centres.

Cabinet OKs scheme for Uttar Pradesh financial sops to set up data centres

In a decisive push to by private players in UP, the state cabinet headed by chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday approved the scheme of providing financial incentive for establishment of data centres in the state. The measure was introduced in the UP Data Centre Policy-2021 which envisaged attracting firms to set up data centres all over the state, not just Noida.

The work of setting up of four data centre parks with an investment of over Rs 15,950 crore is under process. These include NIDP Developers Pvt Ltd of Hiranandani Group with investment of Rs 9134.9 crore, NTT Global Centers and Cloud Infrastructure India Pvt Ltd of Japan with investment of Rs 1,687 crore and two projects of Rs 2,414 crore and Rs 2,713 crore each of Adani Enterprises Ltd. These will provide direct and indirect EMPLOYMENT to more than 4,000 people. Hiranandani Group’s first institute is expected to be ready in July and commercial work is likely to start in September.

The cabinet has decided to give necessary impetus to these projects, with the condition that the investment made under the policy period will be considered for permissibility of financial incentives and will be started during the policy period (5 years).

UP launches campaign to register MSMEs

In order to give recognition to the Micro, Small and Medium enterprises of Uttar Pradesh, the MSME and Export Promotion department has started a registration campaign on the MSME Udyam portal in the entire state.

This campaign will be run in the entire state till June 15.

The Directorate of Industries will organise camps for the registration of micro, small, and medium enterprises in each district. Additionally, the MSMEs themselves can also register by visiting the portal. All eligible MSMEs can register.

The objective is to provide a platform for the active micro, small, and medium enterprises in the state so that they may benefit from the schemes implemented by the Yogi Adityanath government for MSMEs.

According to officials, there are more than 90 lakh active MSMEs in Uttar Pradesh, but only 14 lakh MSMEs are registered on the portal so far. All these units contribute directly and indirectly to the states gross domestic product (GDP).

105 Udyami Mitrasselected by UP govt

With the objective of addressing the grievances of entrepreneurs of India and abroad, the Uttar Pradesh government is appointing Udyami Mitras. After completion of the selection process, the result of 105 Udyami Mitras has been released.It can be downloaded by clicking on the Udyami Mitra section.

The Udyami Mitras have been selected on the basis of a written test and interviews. Soon, all the 105 Udyami Mitras will be given appointments in the Invest UP office and headquarters.

It is noteworthy that the UP government is in the process of implementing the MoU worth Rs 35 lakh crore signed during the UP Global Investors Summit held earlier this year. Udyami Mitras are being recruited to assist the entrepreneurs.

The process of appointment has been completed by Invest UP, the nodal organisation under the department of and Industrial Development.

UP bags 3rd position in providing tap water connections

In a major achievement for the Yogi Adityanath-led government, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday became the third state in the country in terms of number of tap water connections under Har Ghar Nal Yojana, overtaking Rajasthan.

According to the available statistics, UP has provided 97,11,717tap connections that are benefitting more than 5,82,70,302 villagers of UP, against 39,33,140 in Rajasthan till Thursday.

With this, more than five crore villagers have started getting pure drinking water under Har Ghar Jal Yojana of Jal Jeevan Mission.

In UP, more than 40,000 families are being given tap connections every day, against 5,000 in Rajasthan. Notably, as a result of continuous review of the Har Ghar Jal Yojana by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in the month of February, tap water reached 81 lakh families in UP with the state leaving Jharkhand and West Bengal behind.

Top five states providing tap connection include Bihar (1,59,10,093 connections), Maharashtra (1,09,98,678 connections), UP (97,11,717 connections), Gujarat (91,18,449 connections) and Nadu (79,62,581 connections).

Ras Banaras introduces youth to Indian culture

UnderProject Carefor strengthening ofBanaras Gharanaof music, the Small Industries of India (SIDBI) and SPIC MACAY organised a programme-Ras Banarasat Rudraksh Convention Center Sigra.

The main objective of the programme was to introduce youth to Indian culture and rejuvenate the Banaras Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music.

He emphasized on saving the existing heritage of Kashi, which includes art, dance, classical music, handicraft. Appreciating the initiative of SIDBI and SPIC MACAY, he said the programme has a huge contribution in saving the wonderful heritage of Indian culture and music.

UP govt disburses Rs 4,314 cr loan to 5,06,995 MSMEs

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday disbursed a total loan of Rs 4314 crore to 5,06,995 Micro, Small and Medium enterprises as part of the Online Swarozgar Sangam’ programme.

On the occasion, 75,000 traditional artisans trained under Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana got free toolkits along with 10,000 trained handicrafts men under the One District, One Product scheme.

In an interaction with the beneficiaries of the scheme through virtual medium, the chief minister asked them about their projects for which loans had been taken and also expressed happiness over the progress of youth through schemes like ODOP, Mudra Yojana, Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Rashtriya Swasthaya Sevak Abhiyan by launching the Health Warrior Portal under which a campaign will be launched to train health workers.

He said that four lakh Health volunteers were being linked to the campaign by the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in two lakh revenue villages of the country.

A target has been set to have two lakh volunteers in the state and these health workers will also be imparted training.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that despite the onslaught of the second Covid wave across the state and disruption in economic activities due to partial lockdown, the state achieved a record revenue realisation of Rs 11,196.49 crore against the target of Rs 13,175 crore in April, the first month of the 2021-22 fiscal. He said that in the corresponding period in April last year, the recovery was only Rs 1,298 crore, which was less by Rs 9,898 crore.

The positive Growth in revenue recovery during the pandemic is a welcome sign for the economy of the state. Against the target of Rs 4,965.35 crore for GST, the actual revenue collection was Rs 5,157 crore in April this year. The GST collection in April 2020 was only Rs 670 crore. The collection of VAT in April this year was Rs 1,307 crore against the target of Rs 826.53 crore. VAT collection in April 2020 was only Rs 402.22 crore, Khanna said.

The minister said that revenue collection from the Excise department in April this year was Rs 3,240 crore against the target of Rs 3,940 crore. In April last year, the collection from Excise department was only Rs 53.46 crore. Similarly, collections from Stamps and Registration department in April this year was Rs 1,218.39 crore against the target of Rs 1,854 crore while it was only Rs 17.41 crore in April last year.

The collection from Transport department was Rs 553.95 crore in April 2021 against the target of Rs 771 crore while in April 2020, it was only Rs 100 crore. From the Geology and MMining department, the revenue collection in April 2021 stood at Rs 199.74 crore against the target of Rs 338 crore while it was Rs 54.16 crore in April last year.
