UP cabinet approves new sports policy

With the aim of fostering Sports culture in the state besides improving sports and promoting sportspersons, the State Government has approved a new sports policy so that youth at the young age participate in sporting events and make UP and India proud.

The policy also envisages creation of a State Sports Authority in line with Sports Authority of India.

The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Friday.

In the new sports policy, special consideration has been given to players’ physical fitness as well as to their training. Along with this, various provisions have been made to support the development of new institutions and connect schools, colleges and private academies with sports.

In the new sports policy a provision has been made to establish a State Sports Authority on the lines of the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Additionally, the state will establish a State Sports Development Fund. Through this fund, weak players, associations, or academies will receive assistance.

Kanpur investors sign over Rs 83,000 investment intents

intents worth more than Rs 83,000 crore have been signed by Kanpur investors ahead ofGlobal Investors Summitto be held in Lucknow from February 10 to 12. Most of the investments have been made in energy, real estate, Dairy and animal husbandry and chemical sectors.

Mission Shakti 3.0: Focus on women safety in rural parts of Uttar Pradesh

The third phase ofMission Shakti, to be launched by chief ministerYogi Adityanathon August 21, will focus on safety of Women from rural areas. Nodal head of the mission, Laxmi Singh (Ips), said the aim of the third phase is to provide Police service at the doorstep of every woman, including those living rural areas.

She said for the first time women cops are being assigned beat duties like their male counterparts. In the system we will include 3 or 4 villages and make it a beat for women constables/head constables. They will have to visit the area twice weekly and note the problems being faced by women and then resolve them with the help of senior officers. The women cops will also spread awareness about the government schemes which benefit women, said Singh.

Another step taken under Mission Shakti is weekly care of single mothers and elderly by Women help desks at police stations, both in urban and rural pockets.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said on Wednesday that despite the onslaught of the second Covid wave across the state and disruption in economic activities due to partial lockdown, the state achieved a record revenue realisation of Rs 11,196.49 crore against the target of Rs 13,175 crore in April, the first month of the 2021-22 fiscal.

He said that in the corresponding period in April last year, the recovery was only Rs 1,298 crore, which was less by Rs 9,898 crore.
The positive Growth in revenue recovery during the pandemic is a welcome sign for the economy of the state. Against the target of Rs 4,965.35 crore for GST, the actual revenue collection was Rs 5,157 crore in April this year. The GST collection in April 2020 was only Rs 670 crore. The collection of VAT in April this year was Rs 1,307 crore against the target of Rs 826.53 crore. VAT collection in April 2020 was only Rs 402.22 crore.

In April last year, the collection from Excise department was only Rs 53.46 crore. Similarly, collections from Stamps and Registration department in April this year was Rs 1,218.39 crore against the target of Rs 1,854 crore while it was only Rs 17.41 crore in April last year.
The collection from Transport department was Rs 553.95 crore in April 2021 against the target of Rs 771 crore while in April 2020, it was only Rs 100 crore. From the Geology and MMining department, the revenue collection in April 2021 stood at Rs 199.74 crore against the target of Rs 338 crore while it was Rs 54.16 crore in April last year.

Uttar Pradesh’s first organic winery to be set up in Bareilly

TheUttar Pradesh(UP) government has given its nod to set up the state’s firstorganic wineryinBareilly, taking the total number of wineries in UP to two.
In September last year, the government approved the state’s first winery in Muzaffarnagar. The second licence has been issued to a Bareilly-based company — Godson Organic Farm Private Limited.

The plant and machinery of the winery will be set up with an outlay of Rs 15 crore in technical collaboration with France. The installation process is expected to be complete within six months and the initial annual target of production has been fixed at 1 lakh litres of different kinds of wine.

Kashi Vishwanath set to become Purvanchals development corridor

Set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor is expected to pave the way for development of not only Varanasi but the entire eastern UP region colloquially termed as Purvanchal, enhancing business and trade and creating EMPLOYMENT opportunities for the youths of the region.

Besides, the 70-km-long Panchkosi route is being given an international character with the beautification of 108 main temples, 44 dharamshalas (shelter homes), kund (pool) and yatri niwas (guest houses). Also, Rudraksh Convention Centre has been constructed within Kashis municipal boundaries with the help of Japan at a cost of Rs 186 crore. A cruise facility has been provided in river Ganga. A total of Rs 403.39 crore has been spent so far to make Varanasi a smart city. A multi modal terminal has been constructed at a cost of Rs 418 crore. Multi-level parking lots are also being built in different places to solve parking issues of visitors and tourists.

With the new government initiatives, new business opportunities are being made available in different sectors ranging from tourism and hospitality to traditional handicrafts. Developmental activities taking place in Kashi are set to create employment opportunities for the youth. Kashi is fast emerging as an economic centre of Purvanchal region.

After more than three months of wait, the non-Covidorphanswill finally receive financial aid as the state government has sanctioned the fund.

UnderMukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana(Samanya) non-Covid orphans receive Rs 2,500 per month till the minor attains the age of 18 years. However, the fund is given maximum to two minors of a family.

Further, the WCD has raised a request to the for Rs 40 crore for 12,429 Covid orphans. Under Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana (covid), the orphans receive Rs 4,000 per month till the age of 18 years.
In the scheme, every minor of the family is covered and is also given a tablet after completing the board exam. Further, the orphans are funded for their higher Education till the age of 23 years.

Tokyo triumph prompts govt to promote sports in rural Uttar Pradesh

After Indias brilliant performance in the recently-concludedTokyo OlympicsandParalympics, theUttar Pradeshgovernment has shifted its focus to the promotion ofsportsby providing grounds, equipment and to players and organizing competitions in rural areas. The department of youth welfare will hold zonal level competitions in rural areas from September 16-30, followed by state-level competitions in October.

The State Government is also creating Infrastructure for promotion of Sports. Currently, 21 multipurpose halls are being constructed in rural areas in different districts of the state. Four of these are in Mohanlalganj in Lucknow, Panchali Khurd inMeerut, Nagwan in Sonbhadra and Milkipur in Ayodhya. These will be ready within the next six months as per the instruction of the Chief Minister.

Under theKhelo Indiascheme, the department of youth welfare is also constructing 20 mini stadiums in various districts with special focus on training youth inrural UP. The youth welfare department is augmenting sports facilities to improve fitness of rural youth.
The government is also developing open gymnasiums and playgrounds through convergence under the Khelo India scheme.

New Uttar Pradesh companies to get priority in BSE, NSE listings

In a bid to encourage companies from UP to get listed on the stock exchange, additional chief secretary,MSME, Navneet Sehgal on Thursday said that companies set up in the past four years would be prioritised in listing on BombayStock Exchangeand theNational Stock Exchange(NSE).

There are about 55 lakh DEMAT accounts in UP, making it the third highest in the country. Currently, there are eight companies from UP listed on NSE and nine onBSE. This is despite the fact that UP has a high number of electronics, IT, , manufacturing, plastic, leather, agro, food products and garments companies, among others.

The has asked the urban planning department to shape up the seven divisional headquarters (Varanasi, Meerut, Bareilly,Jhansi, Lucknow,Gorakhpurand Agra) in a manner that they can push industrial and commercial activities of their neighbouring districts. To be termed as city-regions (divisional headquarters along with neighbouring districts), the agenda to urbanise the neighbouring districts was pushed by the state government to promote balanced growth and achieve USD one trillion economy by 2027. The objective is to promote investments, anchor regional economic activity and set up smart clusters having all amenities for Industry owners and local community.

In Varanasi where close to 44,000 MSMEs are registered, besides tourism, agricultural export, handlooms, handicraft, transportation and local trade provides maximum EMPLOYMENT.
