Telangana second only to Kerala in Net subscriptions

At 83 subscribers for every 100 residents, is second second only toKerala(87) in Internet penetration in states in the country. Overall, internet reach in India stands at 67 for every 100 people.

According to data released recently by the Union Government, only four states have more than 80 subscribers per 100 people. After Kerala and Telangana,Punjab and Himachal Pradeshhave also 83 internet subscribers for every 100 residents. The number stands at 67 for neighbouringAndhra Pradesh. Among the states, Bihar (37) is at the bottom. National capital New Delhi (taken as a city) is an exception with more than 202 internet subscribers for every 100 people.

The internet subscription details include both wireless and wired connections (landline and mobile internet), according to the report of the technical group on Population projections for India and states 2011-2036.

Teledensity is one of the sub parameters used to assess the progress of states and countries towards achieving Sustainable Development goals (SDG).
As per the report, Telangana has 11.5 million rural subscribers compared to 20 million urban ones. While urban areas are saturated with 110 internet connections per 100 population, rural areas are still lagging at 57.

According to data from telecom service providers (TSPs), department of telecom’s (DoT) field unit and state governments as of March 2022, out of 6,44,131 villages (as on 2019) in the country, around 6,05,230 have mobile internet connectivity.

Telangana clocks 50 lakh free dialysis sessions: Health minister T Harish Rao

The state has touched a milestone of conducting 50 lakh free dialysis sessions in government hospitals.

Highlighting the nephrology Services being provided at the NIMS, the minister said, “Majority of the kidney transplants happen in NIMS. With drones, Med from Sky set to soar into newer areas in Telangana

The governments ambitious Medicine from the sky project is all set to soar into newer areas.

So far, 350 drone flights delivered medicines to different locations in Vikarabad in little over a month, despite some of the locations being inaccessible. Vaccines, medicines and blood platelets were delivered by the drones to primary Health centres (PHCs).

With Vikarabad experiment being a big success, officials said all the experience gained will be put to good use for drone delivery of medicines in Adilabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.

Phase-2 of the project is being deliberated to include actual deliveries and use of hybrid vertical take-off and landing UAVs. Sources said the consortiums which participated in the first phase were eager for the launch of second phase.
Operated by remote pilots, the drones can travel up to 10 km in a single run at a speed of 32 km per hour.

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation all set to go digital

In a measure aimed at encouraging cashless transactions, theTelangana State Road Transport Corporationis now planning to introducei-TIMS(Intelligent Ticket Issue Machine) to issue tickets in district buses.

The operation was started on the pilot basis on theRGIAroad for Pushpak buses, where the passenger can make payments usingUPI, credit or debit cards.
The transport juggernaut, which has conducted a tender for 900 machines, is now supplying them to district depots. Officials are also making arrangements to start the same procedure in city.

Telangana raises objections over referring irrigation project reports to AP

TheTelanganagovernment raised objections on referring detailed project reports (DPRs) toAndhra Pradeshin a routine manner.

In a letter to the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) chairman J Chandrasekhar Iyer, Irrigation special chief secretary Rajat Kumar said DPRs of projects such as Chowtpally Hanumantha Reddy Lift Irrigation Project (LIS) and Chanaka-Korata barrage have been referred to AP government for their observations and comments.

“The projects were well within the water allocated and no inter-state issues were involved. The Chowtpally Hanumantha Reddy LIS was taken up, executed and commissioned in the united AP government and has been in operation for six years.

The AP government requested Thungabhadra Board to divert KC canal quota of two tmcft, in addition to the already diverted two tmcft, from Thungabhadra dam to high level canal.

Unesco tag: Deccan Sultanate sites lost to Dholavira

The Unesco nomination list also states that India has indicated its wish to prioritise Dholavira this year.

In a first, Telangana high court delivers judgment in Telugu

The High Court has delivered the first ever judgement in Telugu in a dispute over a property inSecunderabadbetween two brothers.

The 44-page judgement delivered follows a Kerala high court order in Malayalam in February. The move comes in the wake of The Supreme Court keeping its important judgements online after having them translated into regional languages.

The high court bench of Justice P Naveen Rao and Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka also prepared its judgement separately in English and enclosed it along with the Telugu version. It clarified that any typographical errors found in Telugu should be compared with the English version and that the latter would get primacy if there was any confusion.
The bench added that the order was pronounced in Telugu for the convenience of the litigants. Some English words have been used in the Telugu version as people of the state use them widely, the judges added.

India’s largest floating solar project commissioned in Telangana

India’s largest floating solar power plant with a total capacity of 100MW has finally been commissioned by state-run power generation giantNTPCat its Ramagundam power plant inTelangana.

The plant, which has been set up at a cost of 423 crore, has 4.48 lakh photovoltaic (PV) panels floating over 500 acres of the NTPC-Ramagundam reservoir.

According to NTPC, the floating system is anchored through specialHMPE(High Modulus Polyethylene) ropes to dead weights placed in the balancing reservoir bed.

Telangana pools in Rs 2,000 crore via auction of bonds, eyes more funds

raised Rs 2,000 crore via auction of Bonds following Reserve Bank of Indias (RBI) approval last week. The state went for a payment of the longest duration of 30 years.

Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and West Bengal also raised bonds. All these states took loans with interest repayment schedule of seven to 10 years, unlike Telangana.

Besides Telangana, other states on long duration schedule are Bihar (15 years) and AP (14). Telangana also fixed a slightly higher interest rate (7.24%) than other states, which kept it in the range of 6.95% to 7%.

Meanwhile, the state will also go for another round of auction to raise Rs 1,000 crore this month end as per schedule given to RBI. According to the calendar, in the July-September quarter, the state will go for auction of Rs 8,000 crore.

In the last quarter too, it had applied for raising of Rs 8,000 crore, but taken Rs 16,000 crore loan. In June, it had taken Rs 10,000 crore loan.

In the 2021-21 budget, it was proposed to pool in funds worth Rs 47,500 crore via loans. Sources said that in this quarter too, the state will go for more loans than it requested in the calendar to the RBI.

Mega EV shift helps state lower its carbon footprint

With Environment conscious Telanganaites increasingly shifting gears to adopt green mobility, the number of electric vehicles (EVs) in the states is on the rise. And nowhere is this rapid shift more visible than in the states IT hub and capital Hyderabad.

As per data provided by theTelanganatransport department, as many as 68,872 EVs or battery-operated vehicles were sold in the state between February 2, 2021, to May 31, 2023.

Of these, 50,825 EVs were sold in the Greater Hyderabad (GHMC) districts Hyderabad, Medchal,RangaReddy and Sangareddy — and the rest were sold in the non-GHMC districts. As of March 31, 2023, Telangana had over 1.54 crore registered vehicles, as per the Telangana transport department website.

A recent CBRE report said, Telangana, which already has two wheeler and e-bus manufacturing units as well as EV battery manufacturing, currently accounts for 7% of total EV manufacturing Investment of $28 billion announced in the country in the 2020-H12023 period. Players such as Olectra, BILITI, PureEV, ETO, among others are already manufacturing EVs in the state.

More investments are set to pour in with the Telangana government already announcing plans to set up the Telangana Mobility Valley (TMV) in and around Hyderabad with an EV research and manufacturing cluster.
