Telangana govt to form district-level lake protection committees

The lake protection committee of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) on Tuesday said that the has decided to set up lake protection committees at district-level and submitted a report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in connection with cases of lake encroachments.

The lake protection committee in its meeting resolved to identify and list lakes and water bodies in Hyderabad metropolitan area after appointing a consultant and was directed to work in coordination with officials of revenue, Irrigation and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) for preparation of the Full Tank Level (FTL) maps after completing the survey of each lake,

The lake protection committee in its meeting resolved to constitute a district-level lake protection committee with the superintendent of Police as a member and requested the district collectors to ensure that every district has a lake protection committee.

Sahas launched to curb workplace harassment

Home ministerMohammed Mahmood Ali inaugurated Sahas, aTelanganapolice initiative, to make workplaces free from harassment for Women.

Director general of policeAnjani Kumarsaid that there are over three lakh employers in the state and the Sahas team hoped to connect and sensitise them through awareness and training activities. He asked the Sahas steering committee to ensure that a massive awareness-cum-training campaign is taken up among government departments and other stakeholders as well, DGP office said.

Additional director general of Police (Women safety wing) ShikhaGoelsaid Sahas was a collaboration between bodies and the Telangana police. Under the initiative, a working woman, who faces work place harassment, can approach Sahas. The team, with the involvement of NGOs, will contact concerned committees created be the employer to strive to initiate action.

Inflation on decline in Telangana, can be eased further: Experts

‘s Inflation, both overall and rural, is on the decline since May 2022 when it stood at 9.4%. The state recorded inflation of 8.5% in February this year, but the figure is still high when compared to the same period last year (8%).

Interestingly, the inflation rate had shot up quickly in the following months of in February 2022, reaching its highest level in eight years in May that year.

In February this year, Telangana is followed byAndhra Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, all within 7-8% bracket, andMadhya Pradeshat 6.9%. Experts say the current decline is a good sign but there is need to bring down the rates close to 6 %.

However, Telangana’s rural inflation in February 2023 (8.5%) is still considered on the higher side.

According to data from theUnion ministry of statisticsand programme implementation, the national inflation rate fell to 6.4% in February from 7.4% in May 2022, when it was also at its highest.

Over 3 lakh cases settled in National Lok Adalat in Telangana

A total 3,02,768 cases were resolved through the National Lok Adalat conducted across all the courts in on Saturday.

Of the total tally, 19,761 cases were of pre-litigation and the remaining 2,83,007 were pending court cases in various categories, the Telangana State Legal Services Authority said in a statement.

The settlement saw an amount of 116.33 crore as compensation awarded to beneficiaries.

According to Rachakonda Police commissionerate, 55,772 cases in its limits were compounded in the mega event.

Our Food, Telangana govt to setup 20,000 micro food processing units

Our Food, a Hyderabad-based agri-tech startup, on Friday announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with theTelanganagovernment to setup over 20,000 micro Food Processing units atfarm levelacross the state.

As part of this agreement, Our Food will collaborate with the to set up these units to cover all the major crops such as rice, pulses, groundnut, Millets, turmeric and chilli. The food processing equipment would be manufactured at Our Foods manufacturing facility in Zaheerabad.

According to the startup, these units will generate rural EMPLOYMENT and also increase opportunities to improve farmers incomes. The startup has also partnered with financial institutions for this initiative, which will help the rural youth meet their finance requirements.

The collaboration is expected to generate direct employment for at least 40,000 rural youth and indirect employment for at least 60,000 people.

Telangana govt announces Rs 1,540 crore bonanza for Nalgonda

Fulfilling its promises made to Munugode assembly constituency voters during by-poll held last month, the government on Thursday announced Rs 1,540 crore bonanza for the Nalgonda district.

Around Rs 400 crore worth of works would be taken up in the Munugode assembly constituency from the sanctioned amount. The rest of the amount would be spent on roads, Infrastructure improvement, civic works, construction of a hospital and other works.

The government also announced to set up a toy park in Dandumalkapur industrial park which would provide EMPLOYMENT to about 10,000 youths.

Can generate 550 MT oxygen in Telangana: T Harish Rao

Health ministerT Harish Raostated thatwill be capable enough to generate 550 metric tonnes (MT) of Oxygen on a daily basis and added that the government has signed an agreement with some organisations at Pashamylaram Industrial Area.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating an oxygen plant at an area hospital in Zaheerabad on Sunday, the minister stated that the state only had capacity to generate 200 MT of oxygen whenCovidhit Telangana in March 2020. The state had to import oxygen from Tamil Nadu, Goa, andKarnatakaas the demand increased to 500 MT, the minister added.

Following these developments, the health minister stated that chief ministerK Chandrasekhar Raodirected them to increase the capacity of oxygen supply to 550 metric tonnes. He said that they had connected all 27,000 beds in hospitals to an oxygen supply company for establishing an oxygen plan. He stated that this was the 86th plant in the state.
