Telangana agriculture exports jump by 40%, pegged at Rs 10,000 crore

In a positive sign for ‘s efforts in the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture sector,Telanganahas witnessed almost 40% increase in agriculture exports between 2020 and 2022. While agriculture exports stood at Rs 6,337 crore in 2020-21, it rose substantially to about Rs 10,000 crore in 2021- 22.

According to the data recently released by the central government, Telangana and Maharashtra are two states which have shown marked Growth in agriculture exports. In just five years, from 2017-18 to 2021-22, it has increased from Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore in Telangana.
Telangana’s top exports include Cotton, spices, Cereals and meat. According to experts, the exports from Telangana have improved due to innovative methods, increased use of technology and cold storage facilities.

Telangana: Google removes 290 loan apps

Upon a request fromTelanganapolice, Google has removed as many as 290 loan shark apps from its Play Store that are playing havoc with the lives of innocent borrowers.

These rogue apps, hosted on US-based Amazon Cloud and China-based Ali Cloud, are linked with Chinese companies and are operating in association with certain non-Banking firms in India.

Two non-banking financial companies (NBFC) located in Bangalore, Mad Network technologies and Fin express financial Services, were found to be assisting the Chinese rogue loan companies.

School dropout rate till class 8 zero during 2020-21 in Telangana: Report

The dropout rate till class eight of was zero during the academic year 2020-21, revealed unified district information system for Education plus (UDISE+) report 2020-21.

In the report released by the department of school education and Literacy, 13.9% of students of a total 11,21,917 enrolled in class nine and class 10 had dropped out during 2020-21, of which 14.3% are boys and 13.4% are girls.

In Telangana, a total of 69,64,553 students had been enrolled in pre-primary to class 12 during the said year.

According to the report, a total of 4,79,174 new students were admitted in class 1 in various schools across the state.

Of the total new admissions, 2,51,143 are boys and 2,28,031 are girls. Of which, 1,54,249 joined government schools and the remaining were enrolled in government-aided, private among other schools in the state.

As per the report, enrollment of students in pre-primary level and class 1 has reduced by 29.1 lakh and 18.8 lakh respectively in 2020-21 as compared to 2019-20 in the country.

Total enrollment of CWSN in 2020-21 stood at 21.69 lakh as compared to 22.49 lakh in 2019-20 showing a decrease of 3.55% during 2020-21 as compared to 2019-20 across the country.

In Telangana, 43,216 CWSN were studying in class 1 to class 12 during 2020-21 as against 43,672 in 2019-20.

When it comes to teachers, a total of 3,20,216 were working in schools across Telangana in 2020-21 as against 3,05,597 in 2019-20.

Eye on revenue, Telangana govt to regularise encroached land

In a fresh move to shore up the state exchequer, thegovernment has decided to take up another round of regularisation of illegal structures built on encroached government land. Whileencroachmentsbelow 125 square yards of land will be regularised free of cost under the GO 58, the encroachments above 125 sq yards would be regularised by collecting penal amount based on basic value of the land.

The Telangana government had first provided this opportunity of regularisation in 2014 afterTRScame to power. Committees have been constituted at district, secretary and government level to scrutinise the applications and clear them. There was a criticism on the GO earlier that even affluent people who had encroached upon the government land even in areas such as Jubilee Hills, Madhapur and other upmarket locations got theirencroached landregularised paying a fee.

Bifurcation blues: Telangana tells Andhra Pradesh to pay up Rs 12,111 crore power dues

has demanded a quick resolution of all pending bifurcation issues with neighbour Andhra Pradesh and urged the Centre to settle them at the earliest.
At a joint meeting on the bifurcation issues between the two states on Wednesday, Telangana slammed AP for dragging its feet on resolving the issues and demanded payment of dues from AP and Centre to the state immediately.

On the power bills issue, Telangana said it should get dues of Rs 12,111 crore from AP. Telangana insisted it should get Money spent on common institutions and higher Education institutes. Since some issues were pending with the High Court, Telangana suggested to AP to withdraw cases for an amicable settlement of the pending issues.

Telangana said it had taken a firm stand that unless court cases were withdrawn, it cannot go ahead with bifurcation of Schedule IX and X institutions.

Divi’s Labs Telangana’s most valuable company; 29 from state in top 500 list

As many as 29 companies from , led by pharma major Divi’s Labs, have made their way to the first edition of theBurgundy Private Hurun India500 list of the most valuable companies in India.

Divi’s Labs, which has scored 33rd rank all-India with a value of Rs 1,36,699 crore, is followed by metals and mining player Hindustan Zinc at second spot among Telangana companies (35th all-India) with a value of Rs 1,31,598 crore and pharma major Dr Reddy’s Laboratories at third position (56th all-India) with a value of Rs 77,540 crore.

Interestingly, with a combined value of over Rs 3.45 lakh crore, these three companies alone accounted for more than half the cumulative Rs 6.9 lakh crore value of the 29 companies from the state to have made the cut. Of these 29 companies, 15 are from the healthcare sector.

When it comes to companies with the highest net profits, two Hyderabad-based companies have made it to the list of top 20 – Hindustan Zinc at 13th spot with net profit of Rs 7,980 crore and Aurobindo Pharma at 19th spot with Rs 5,389 crore.

Centre to help develop six Telangana airports: Jyotiraditya Scindia

Union minister for civil aviation JyotiradityaScindiahas assured that Centre would extend support for development of six proposed in various parts ofTelangana. He also said metro rail connectivity will be provided to theRajiv Gandhi International Airport. Centre will also help in expansion of the airport, the Union minister said.

The Union minister met chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at thePragathi Bhavan. KCR requested support from the Centre in development of airports in Telangana as the state is becoming a centre for economic Growth and a hub for various sectors. KCR brought to the notice of Scindia that passenger traffic has increased at the international airport in the past few years. Direct connectivity should be increased, especially with cities in south-east Asia, Europe, US, KCR said.

Scindia assured Centre will provide help in developing Hyderabad as an international city. The minister said that immediate measures will be taken to start ATR operations at the proposed Mamnur airport in Warangal, among the six proposed airports in the state.

Telangana tops list of states in cadaver organ donations

WhileTelanganawas always known to be a leader in deceased organ donation (cadaver), comparative data released by the National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organization (NOTTO) for 2022 has now officially sealed its place as the frontrunner.Telanganarecorded 194 donors, followed by Nadu which recorded 154 donors during the year. Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra were among the other top states.

Telangana also tops in the number of deceased donor transplants, meaning majority of the organs donated under the cadaver programme are utilized within the state. The number of donations under the states Jeevandan programme for organ donation have been on the rise over the last few years going up from 162 in 2021 to 194 in 2022. There have been 45 cadaver donations this year so far. The organs include kidney, liver, heart, lung, cornea and pancreas.

Santhi Kumari Appointed as First Woman Chief Secretary of Telangana

Santhi Kumari will take charge over incumbent Somesh Kumar, who was relieved from the Telangana government by the Union Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

Santhi Kumari is thefirst woman Chief Secretaryof Telangana.

Telangana has medicines, but lags on ventilator front

While medicine and other essentials in the battle against Covid-19 are readily available in the state, the Centre has pointed out thatneeds to improve on theventilator front.

Telangana like Jharkhand, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Nagaland, and Rajasthan is experiencing a shortage of ventilator consumables.

The state is also one of 14 states, which though it has trained personnel, has less than half the number of ventilators installed. Other such states include Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland.
Telangana has 1,708 delivered units and 1,565 installed units.
