Plans to enhance godown space set to cost Rs 4k crore

Last year, the state government faced shortage of storage capacity and had to store paddy and other agriculture produce in schools and marriage halls.

Water Board to take up door-to-door seeding of Aadhaar numbers

In order to fastpace the Aadhaar linkage for providing the 20,000 litres free water supply per month to all the eligible citizens, the has begun door-to-door enumeration of the consumers and seeding of their Aadhaar numbers with the water connection.

While the option is open for consumers to establish Aadhaar linkage online, through Mee Seva centres, or other means, the aim of door-to-door visits is to expedite the process, officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board informed.

The Board has tied up with the Telangana State Technology Services Limited for carrying out the door-to-door Aadhar linkage. Accordingly, outsourced personnel have started to visit each household to collect the Aadhaar details, Property Tax Identification Number (PTIN) and phone numbers of the residents.

Telangana govt invites Dalai Lama to Buddhist spiritual centre, Buddhavanam

The government has invited the Dalai Lama to visit theBuddhavanam projectatNagarjunasagar.

Laxmaiah briefed about the Buddhavanam project, a unique Buddhist heritage theme park, first of its kind in India, developed in an extent of 274 acres showcasing the events from the life of the Buddha, his previous lives( Jataka Stories) in bronze and stone, including a 100-foot-tall and 200 feet in diameter encased with more than 1,200 sculptural panels and 13 miniature stupas of India and south-east Asian countries to preserve and propagate Buddhas teachings and Buddhist culture.

CAG points on excess expenditure by Telangana government

According to theControllerand Auditor General (CAG) report for the fiscal year ending 2020, the has been incurring excess expenditure over authorization for the last few years, which is cause for concern.

While thelegislaturehas yet to approve an excess expenditure of Rs 84,650 crore incurred over the last five years, Approximately Rs 2,084.03 crore was spent without budgetary provision in 2019-20, undermining the authority of the State Legislature,CATsaid. During the period 2016-19, utilization of budgetary provisions under four socioeconomic grants was less than 50% of the allocation, affecting socioeconomic development in the state.

The CAG also pointed out that due diligence was not performed for the withdrawal of advances from the contingency fund. These advances were also not fully utilized for the intended purpose, nor were they fully repaid within the fiscal year.

During the fiscal year 2019-20, Revenue Receipts increased marginally by Rs 1,124 crore (1.11%), while Revenue Expenditure increased by Rs 11,715 crore (12.07%) over the previous year. Over the previous year, committed expenditure on interest payments increased by Rs 1,800 crore (14.30%). During 2019-20, the State continued to spend less on Education and Health.

Bring Telangana act on crime in Delhi: LG Vinai Kumar Saxena

To effectively control organised crimes such as snatching, land grabbing, online and gaming offences and white-collar financial frauds, lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has proposed to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to extend Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, 1986 to the national capital.

Delhi Police, which reports to the ministry via the LG, sought the extension this June, citing a need for stringent legislation for prevention and effective control of criminal activities such as bootlegging, land grabbing, snatching, robbery, arms running, sale of drugs, gambling and sexual offences, particularly by repeat offenders

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, has sanctioned Rs. 2.26 Crores for Medaram Jatara 2022 Festival in Telangana.

In 2022, the festival is being held from 16 February to 19, 2022. Medaram Jatara is the second-largest fair in India, after the Kumbh Mela.

Medaram Jatara is conducted in honor of the Goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma. It had been declared a State Festival in 1998.

The four-day tribal festival is widely known once in two years within the month of “Magha” (February) on the whole moon day, in Medaram Village of Mulugu district in Telangana.

The festival is organized by the second-largest Tribal Community of Telangana, the Koya tribe, and the Tribal Welfare Department, the Government of Telangana.

Telangana government now eyeing housing board land for auctions

Scouting for the best bet for next round of land auctions, the government is now eyeing theTelangana Housing Board(THB) land in the city. The State Government has reportedly identified about 540 acres belonging to the housing board in Kukatpally, Pocharam, Raviryal and left-over plots in various locations in the city such as Vengal Rao Nagar.
The state government is learnt to have asked the housing board to hand over certain land parcels owned by it to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) for holding auctions.

The THB will hand over 32 acres belonging to it in Kukatpally to the HMDA for development of bigger plots each about one acres to one and half acres, mainly for commercial and mixed-purpose development. The auction will take place only after layout development.

The government has already instructed theRajiv Swagruha Corporationto sell the left-over areas at Pocharam and is also planning to sell some left-over plots in villages which it is also developing as IT hub in the eastern part of the city.

Telanganas per capita income Rs 2,37,632

WhenTelanganawas formed in 2014, the stateper capita incomewas Rs 1,12,216, whereas now it has reached Rs 2,37,632. Presently, the national per capita income is Rs 1,28,829, which means that Telanganas state per capita income is higher than the national figure.

Wearing masks reduces chances of death by 87%: Study

A study by a group ofresearchersassociated withCenters for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), the national public Health agency of the United States, has found that chances of deaths have reduced by 87 per cent if people wear medical masks. It also said wearing double masks is a better option to counter the UK variant ofCovid-19.

The study, which was conducted for about six months in the US, said that by wearing a cloth mask, the death rate had reduced by 82 per cent. The medical masks also helped in reducing the cumulative infection by 78 per cent and by 69 per cent if people wore cloth masks.

The study also enlightens the fact that those who are still reluctant to wear masks should do so immediately for their own good. The study made important observations on usage of double maks for protection against the UK and Wuhan variants. With strains still having a high Reproduction number of 1.6 (one infected person can infect 1.6 persons), the study also stressed on usage of double masks instead of a single mask.

With 7,000 cybercrimes in 2021, Telangana sits atop national list

leads the country with 7,003 registered cases of cybercrime fraud (credit/debit card fraud, ATM fraud, online Banking fraud, OTP-related frauds, and other frauds) in 2021.

Figures reveal that Telangana is followed by Maharashtra (1,678 cases) and Bihar (1,373 cases). Telangana’s cases increased from 282 in 2019 to 3,316 in 2020 and 7,003 in 2021. According to expert Kotireddy Madhava Reddy, the high number of crimes does not imply higher number of cybercriminals.”It means that there are more victims.

Telangana had the most cases of cybercrime convictions in 2020 at 202.It is the only state along with UP which had so many convicted cases.
