Pitch in to develop new medical colleges, T Harish Rao urges NRI doctors from Telangana

Health minister T Harish Rao has urged NRI doctors and alumni of medical colleges settled in different countries to adopt the new medical colleges in the state to help improve medical Education and research. He assured them all assistance in taking up the mission.

The health minister said the state plans to construct superspeciality hospitals at Warangal, four TIMS medical centres around Hyderabad and an additional 2,000 beds at NIMS. In addition, eight medical colleges will be built by the end of this year and eight more the year after.

The NRI doctors include those from Osmania, Gandhi, Kakatiya and Telangana Medical Alumni of America (OGKTMA) comprising 20,000 doctors from the state. This body constitutes one of the largest and oldest Indian medical alumni in the US, the doctors said.

Telangana excelled on health front, says Niti Aayog report

A newNitiAayog report has praisednot just for attaining universal immunisation of children, but also for its Health centres, modern operation theatres and labour rooms.

The health index of states titled Healthy States, Progressive India, has listed Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Assam as the top three ranking states in terms of annual Growth performance.
The report analysed the health conditions in the states between 2018-19 and 2019-20 and has said that Telangana is a top performer in many aspects.

While stating that all district hospitals certified underLaQshyaandKayakalpscored more than 70%, the report added there were no vacancies of auxiliary nurse midwifes (ANMs) in sub centres and medical officers in primary health centres (PHCs).

In terms of incremental performance, Telangana made major gains with nearly half the indicators in the fully achieved, most improved or improved category.

It further said that only five larger states and two smaller states, showed good overall performance and continued to improve on their health index score from the Base Year (2018-19) to reference year (2019-20) for the analysis.

Telangana putting in place action plan to tackle antimicrobial resistance

Telanganahas been working on an action plan on overuse ofantibiotics, which results in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and is one of the few states in the country to do so. Two rounds of meetings have been conducted to discuss state action plan on AMR recently.

As part of the plan, AMR stakeholders have been identified as departments of Health

and family welfare (hospitals & medical colleges), animal husbandry, development, Fisheries (veterinary hospitals, food institutes/labs) and Environment and forests (TSPCB). The Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, food, civil supplies, drug administration, higher Education, public health, municipal and universities and research institutes (all sectors) would have a role too.

To ensure better services to its customers, in the festive season in coming days, theTelangana postal departmenthas launched a four-month-long Dak Parcel Mahotsav to book and deliver thegift packagesandparcelsto their near and dear ones, living within the country and abroad.

Parcels can also be picked up from customers, based on online requests through either the Post info app or by requests through beat postman. The packing is made available in five head post offices including, Hanamkonda, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad and Warangal, too, said Srinivas.

Telangana: Officials directed to prepare Ramappa plan

Chief secretary Somesh Kumar has directed officials to submit an integrated conservation and management plan for the development ofKakatiya Rudreshwara(Ramappa) temple at Palampet in Mulugu district. Chairing the first meeting of state-levelTelangana State Heritage Authority, Somesh Kumar discussed various heritage issues pertaining to the 26 protected monuments, includingQutb Shahi TombsandGolconda Fortin the city.

TheCSdirected the officials to prepare a brief status note on the protected monuments with photographs and submit inspection report to take further action.
The committee also directed officials to submit draft guidelines on buffer zones for Qutb Shahi Tombs toGreater Hyderabad Heritage and Precincts Committee.

Land registration rates set to go up in Telangana from August 1

TheTelanganagovernment is all set to revise land rates for property registrations soon. The cabinet sub-committee on resource mobilisation headed by finance minister T Harish Rao said it would recommend to chief ministerK Chandrasekhar Raoto enhanceland registrationvalues. If everything goes as per the plan, the new values would come into effect from August 1.

Thestate governmentcollects 6% registration fee and stamp duty for registering both Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and non-agriculture land and other constructions such as flats from prospective buyers.

Thegovernmenthas been mulling enhancement of registration land rates for the past one year. Last year, it could not go ahead due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. The CM had constituted the committee on resource mobilisation mainly to get more revenue as the state had lost more than Rs 50,000 crore in the past year.

The AP government had revisedland registration ratesseven times in the past eight years and increased registration charges to 7.5 per cent. Naducollects 7.5% and Maharashtra 7%, officials said.

Telangana CM KCR sanctions Rs 105 crore for Formation Day celebrations

Chief ministerK Chandrasekhar Raohas sanctioned 105 crore forTelangana Formation Day’s decennial celebrations. The amount will be released to all 33 district collectors soon. The has already decided to extend celebrations to three weeks, starting June 2.

The CM held a conference with district collectors and superintendents of Police along with ministers, secretaries and heads of various departments at the new secretariat on Thursday. He said the celebrations should be held in a grand manner as it is a major milestone and a priority for the government.

He asked the officials to make arrangements for extending 1 lakh financial assistance to Vishwakarmas on June 9, which would be celebrated as welfare day. The CM asked the cabinet subcommittee, headed by BC welfare minsiter Gangula Kamalakar, to finalise the guidelines for the scheme being extended to the Most Backward Classes (MBCs).

Telangana: DLSA makes community kitchen call a huge success in Nalgonda

In an effort aimed at helping the poor during this pandemic in general and lockdown period in particular, legal Services authorities inNalgonda districtcould successfully roped in NGOs, revenue, Police, and jail authorities to start community kitchens to serve the poor effectively.

This effort, according to Nalgonda district legal services authority (DLSA) secretaryG Venu, is saving several people from starvation. Nalgonda NRI.org NGO is helping the authorities with this task. They also came out with a new idea to request all those families in the city who can afford to prepare and give one food packet a day to do so.

Telangana to raise Rs 11,500 crore from market in Q1 with 7.6% interest

Telanganahas proposed to raise Rs 11,500cr from the market in the first quarter of the new fiscal in the form ofReserve Bank Of India(RBI) . In the first two rounds of raising Rs 1000cr bonds each, Telangana opted for a long repayment schedule of 21 years at an interest of 7.61%.
In April, Telangana will raise Rs 4000 crore, followed by Rs 3500 crore in May and Rs 5000 in June, with total borrowings pegged at Rs 11,500 crore.

Telangana HC summons tourism corp MD on delay in Hill Fort renovation

Telanganahigh court on Monday took a serious view of the delaying tactics of the authorities for dodging the renovation and protection ofHill Fortpalace, a heritage structure, in Basheerbagh.

A bench of Chief JusticeUjjal Bhuyanand N Tukaramji asked theTelangana State Tourism Development Corporation MDto be present in the court along with the blueprint on April 20 or face a contempt case.
