Indian Oil commits to investing Rs 54,000 crore in projects including a refinery in Tamil Nadu

TheIndian Oil CorporationLimited (Iocl), Chennai, has committed to invest Rs 54,000 crore in various projects in Nadu in the next few years, including a 9 MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum) grass-root refinery at an estimated cost of Rs 35,580 crore, its executive director and state head (TN & Puducherry) V C Asokan said.

This new refinery, which will come up on about 1,300 acres of land in Nagapattinam, will produce petrol and diesel for BS-VI specifications and also polypropylene. The world’s second-largest integrated lubes complex at Ammullaivoyal village for Rs 1,398 crore apart, the IOCL has planned to lay product pipelines (Rs 2,600 crore), gas pipelines including LPG (Rs 2,225 crore), CGD projects (Rs 7,570 crore), open new retail outlets and launch a modernisation programme (Rs 2,500 crore), build a captive POL/LPG jetty at Kamrajar port (Rs 921 crore), establish a terminal at Vallur (for Rs 724 crore) and set up a new terminal at Asanur (for Rs 466 crore), he said.

India’s largest fuel refiner and retailer has commenced blending bio-diesel with diesel at Sankari terminal and will be starting from Asanur soon, followed by Coimbatore.

International Aerospace Manufacturing signs MoU with Tamil Nadu government for expansion of facility in Hosur

International Aerospace Manufacturing (IAMPL), a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Naduto set up new manufacturing facilities in Hosur.
The MoU was signed in the presence of TN chief ministerMK Stalinand will facilitate expansion of IAMPLs manufacturing operations through single window clearances and incentives. IAMPL intends to expand its operations in Tamil Nadu with an eye on the global supply chain. The MoU was announced on the sidelines of the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2022.

Established in 2010, IAMPL is a 50/50 joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Hal for the manufacturing of high precision aero engine compressor, gas turbine parts. IAMPL has now evolved to become a fully-accredited benchmark facility within the high performing aero-engine global supply chain.

Tamil Nadu: Erode based college bags Rs one crore grant

Erode-basedKongu Engineering Collegehas bagged the Union governments grant worth Rs 1 crore to conductresearch on Waste Management technologies.

The college has proposed to convert plastic wastes into fuel and char through hydrothermal liquefaction process. It had submitted the proposal, titled Design and Development of Continuous High-pressure Screw Reactor for Alkali Catalyzed Hydrothermal Co-liquefaction of Plastic Wastes in Lignocellulosic , to the technology development programme of theministry of science and technologylast November.

TNAU gets patent for agriculturalequipment

TheTamil Nadu Agricultural University(TNAU) has received a patent from the office of the controller general of patents, designs, and trademarks of theministry of commerceand for Dual-purposeAgricultural Implement.

The implement is designed for weed management and earthing-up operations. The equipment includes ground wheel, blade, prong, main frame and smooth handle. There are two ground wheels for smooth movement of the machine, a press release from TNAU said. The working blade is at the bottom of the equipment to cut Weeds and provide sliding action, so that the root may not stick to the blade.

Tamil Nadu govt urged to allow temple festivals

TheTamil NaduTemple Employees Association urged the to allow temples — which have the facilities to ensure adherence toCovid-19norms — to conduct festivals.

The government has banned temple events and religious congregations in view of a surge in Covid-19 cases.

Also, many temples in the state have special trusts formed for funding the rituals during the festivals.

Tamil Nadu urban employment scheme will help poor in cities: Minister
