Property registrations in Tamil Nadu a record Rs 12,700 crore

Revenue fromproperty registrationstouched a new high, with 12,700 crore revenue generated till the second week of March this fiscal.

This is a leap with respect to revenues of 1,672 crore and 2,057 crore in 2019-20 and 2020-21. Chennai and Coimbatore zones have together contributed around 60% of the total income. Revival of the real estate sector post-Covid appears to be the key driver in pushing up property registrations.

An increase in sale of apartments was a major factor in Chennai zone, and the registration department is expecting an income of 13,500 crore by the end of the current fiscal. Revenue through stamp duty and registration fee account for 10%-12% of the revenue generated in the state that directly goes to the coffers.

Indian culture preserved equally in Kashi & Tamil Nadu: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Drawing a parallel between Varanasi and Nadu, Chief MinisterYogi Adityanath said thatIndian culturehas been equally preserved in the ancient city and Tamil Nadu.

Diabetes cases likely to go up further in Tamil Nadu, say docs

Diabetologists have highlighted that cases ofdiabetesare increasing every year and with the impact of Covid-19, the disease burden can increase especially among the young Population.
As per the data from thethe National Family Health Survey, two decades back the prevalence of diabetes in adult population was around 3 per cent in rural areas and 5-6 per cent in urban areas inTamil Nadu. However, it has now risen to 8 per cent in rural areas and 12-14 per cent in urban areas. Tamil Nadu makes Aadhaar mandatory to avail electricity subsidy

The Nadugovernment has made linking ofAadhaarwith electricity consumer number mandatory to avail subsidy, including 100 free units for all domestic consumers.

Those who do not have an Aadhaar number and still want to avail the subsidy should apply for Aadhaar enrolment in any Aadhaar enrolment centre or permanent enrolment centre.

Till the Aadhaar is assigned to an individual, he or she can still avail the subsidy by submitting their Aadhaar enrolment identity slip or a copy of his or her request made for Aadhaar enrolment along with any of the authorised identify documents such as bank passbook, voter ID, ration card, PAN card, passport and driving licence.

The State Government has passed the order under Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act since the subsidy schemes are implemented from the state consolidated fund.

Anna University to train farmers on operating drones

As many as 400 farmers fromTamil NaduandKarnatakawill learn how to fly drones, maintain and repair them, in the next few months. The drones will be used to spray pesticide, organic fertilizer in the fields.
Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) will give the certified farmers a drone, a three-wheeler and other equipment for free.

Jal Jeevan plan: Tamil Nadu gets Rs 614.3 crore

Nadus allocation under the Union governments flagshipJal Jeevan Mission aimed at providing tap water to all households has increased by more than 300%, from Rs 922 crore last year to Rs 3691.2 crore this financial year.

TheCentrehas also released the first instalment of Rs 614.3 crore to Tamil Nadu.
The mission, launched by Prime MinisterNarendra Modiin 2019, aims at providing tap water to every household by 2024.

When Jal Jeevan Mission was launched in 2019, Tamil Nadu had 21.6 lakh rural households with tap water connection. It was expected to increase by 40.4 lakh households in 22 months.

The Nilgiris is one of the 15 districts where more than 75% households do not have tap water connection.

Tamil Nadu has an assured availability of Rs 4,068.7 crore Central grant, including Rs 3,691.2 crore of Central allocation and Rs 377.5 crore unspent balance left at the end of the last financial year. The corresponding matching share is Rs 4,359.5 crore, including shortfall of Rs 290.8 crore in the states matching share during last fiscal. The total assured fund availability for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Tamil Nadu for this year is Rs 8,428.2 crore.

MSMEs to carry out overhaul of armoured vehicles

NaduIndustrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) will soon be entering the DEFENCE sector by extending support for MSMEs to start maintenance and repairs of armoured vehicles in association with the Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited.

This is a newest step on its path of Growth of the corporation which has, since its founding in 1949, grown from a loan disbursing agency to an institution that aids the overall economic growth of the state.
TIIC will soon enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (AVNL) based on which the corporation will explore the possibilities to facilitate and equip the MSMEs and also the enterprises it is working with to carry out the maintenance, repairs and overhaul of armoured vehicles.

The tie-up with Coddisia will ensure financial assistance to start-ups while the association with CII will help TIIC to extend guidance and loans to MSME to improve the administrative and technological skills to meet the requirement of the defence sector.
