Rajasthan: Rs 1.5 crore CSR fund for hospital to build oxygen generation unit

Having caught off guard in the face of anoxygen crisis, the district is witnessing unprecedented action on establishment ofnew Oxygen generation Plants.

While theSN Medical Collegeadministration has pushed for setting up an oxygen generation plant, one of the three stalled since six months, a financial aid has come from Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhwat for the one atMG Hospital.

But all these efforts are falling way short of the requirement. Government hospitals, however, have been receiving oxygen from these tankers, but condition at private hospitals is worse, who have been constantly referring patients requiring oxygen to the government hospitals in critical condition.

Raj set to reintroduce whistling dogs, Indian bisons from MP, Maharashtra

The state forest department is planning to reintroduce dholes (also known as whistling dogs) inRajasthans forests from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The is also considering a proposal to introduce gaurs (Indian bison).

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) discussed the proposal to introduce dholes and Indian gaur from other states to Rajasthan. There is no specific time frame, but the proposal has been studied for reintroduction of a species in the state having similar eco-systems.

According to the proposal, dholes, which are on the IUCN list of endangered species, will be reintroduced in either Sariska Tiger Reserve or Ranthambore.

There are about 13,000 to 30,000 gaurs in the world with approximately 85% of the Population in India.

MoUs worth Rs 1.36 lakh crore inked, 17,000 jobs likely

Amend Act to nominate disabled on Cgarh line

The office of commissioner for persons with disabilities (PwDs) has directed the states department to consider nominating specially-abled persons as members in the panchayati raj bodies on a similar pattern asChhattisgarh.

The disability court made these remarks after the panchayati raj department gave a reply to it that there is no provision in the panchayati raj act to nominate specially-abled persons as members

In Rajasthan, the State Government had already nominated specially-abled persons in the Urban Local Bodies, but it is yet to take a decision on panchayati raj institutions. The state government had amended the Rajasthan Municipal Act last year to introduce this provision of nominating PwDs to the ULBs as members, making it the first in the country.
After amendments in the Rajasthan Municipal Act, now it has become mandatory to keep one post vacant for PwDs in an urban local body.

Child marriages in Rajasthan fall by 10% in last five years: Survey

The National Family Health Survey 2020-21 (NFHS-5), the fifth in the NFHS series, revealed that inRajasthanas compared to 2015-16 the Percentage of Women between 20 to 24 years, who were married before turning 18, came down to 25.4% which is a decrease of 10% from NFHS-4.
This decrease was also visible in men between 25 to 29 years, who were married before turning 21 and in 2020-21, 28.2% of men fell in this category as compared to 35.7% in 2015-16
Child marriage continues to be higher in rural areas with 28.3% of girls married before the age of 18 years as compared with 15.1% in the case of their urban counterparts.

According to NFHS-5, 28.2% of boys were married before the legal age as against 25.4% of girls who got married before the legal age. Rajasthan has witnessed a significant reduction in early marriage for boys in the rural areas from 44.7% in 2015-16 to 33.2% in 2020-21. For NFHS 4 and 5, early marriage among boys in the urban areas remains unchanged at 16%.

The gains are significant for rural Rajasthan wherein child marriage has declined about 12% from 40.5% in 2015-16 to 28.3% in 2019-20.Urban Rajasthanwitnessed a reduction in child marriage by 5.2 percentage points between 2015-16 and 2019-20 from 20.3% to 15.1% in the respective years.

States 1st Integrated Resource Recovery Park coming up at Tholai near Jaipur

With electronic waste fast emerging as one of the biggest contributors topollution, the state forest and Environment department is all set to lay the foundation stone of Integrated Resource Recovery Park spread over 48 ha area in Tholai, Janwaramgarh.

This will be the first such park in the state and will encourage the setting up of waste processing units. Shikhar Agrawal, additional chief secretary, forest and environment, tweeted, It will have 100 plots ranging from 1,000 sq m to 10,000 sq m. These plots will be mainly provided to set up units wanting to process various types of wastes like E-Waste, plastic waste, end of life vehicles and old-batteries, etc.

The state forest and environment department in the recent draft ofRajasthanElectronic Waste Disposal Policy 2022 had proposed to set up an integrated recycling park, which will be responsible for recycling, refurbishing and dismantling of electronic waste in the state.

Raj to start use of FASTag on 8 more highways soon

The is planning to start the use ofFASTagon eight more state highways soon. Earlier, FASTag was launched on a pilot basis at toll plazas on two state highways Jaipur-Bhilwara highway and Sikar-Jhunjhunu-Luharu road. The eight highways where toll plazas are operated byRajasthanState Road Development & Construction Corporation (RSRDC) are: Hanumangarh-Suratgarh road, Dungargarh-Sardarsahar-Rajgarh road, Nasirabad-Kekri-Deoli road, Dabok-Mavli-Kapasan road, Jahajpur-Mandalgarh road, Alwar-Behror-Narnol road, Marna-Raas road and Jodhpur-Osian-Falaudi road.

A digital display board, installed at the maingateof RSRDC headquarters, was also inaugurated by the minister. It will help in publicity of all the RSRDC projects. The minister also inaugurated the electronic toll collection system (FASTag) on two state highways Jaipur-Bhilwara highway and Sikar-Jhunjhunu-Luharu road under National Electronic Toll Collection.

Rise in govt school enrolment impacts teacher-student ratio in Rajasthan

A significant rise in student enrolments in government schools has started impacting pupil-teacher ratio (PTR) and issues. The PTR has swelled to 42:1 for classes 9-12 against the norm of 30:1 provisioned under the right to Education Act.

Several government schools are experiencing infrastructure shortages like classrooms, playgrounds and labs to meet the requirements of the increased number of students. The figure says the state has 5,19,693 classrooms including 9,136 classes as dedicated computer labs, while 41,126 required repairs in the 2019-20 academic year.

Over the years, enrolments in government schools superseded private schools due to several reasons such as introduction of different categories of schools providing education better than usual schools and massive improvement in results which has helped to attract students from private schools. The report says the state has 3.98 lakh teachers in 70,031 government schools having a backlog of at least 1.5 lakh teachers.

Rajasthan forest department eyes new safari zones to boost tourism in Sariska Tiger Reserve

The state forest department is exploring possibilities to develop more zones for tourism atSariskaTiger Reserve (STR). The famed reserve now gives access to only 5% of the area for safaris.

Many stakeholders have pointed out that there are no safari zones in STR where big cats inhabit. As part of it, the department has already started work on a 17km protection route for effective monitoring.

As per NTCA norms, a maximum 20% of the core/critical tiger habitat can be used for regulated tourism. In Sariska, there are many tigers in Talvriksha range, but there are no safari and monitoring zones
