Minister announces Rs 10 crore for Naxal rehab in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli

The state will extend full support to rehabilitate surrendered Maoists and bring them into the mainstream by allocating special funds forGadchiroli district,guardian minister Shindesaid.

Maharashtra govt to use private agencies for short-term hiring in case of strikes or emergencies

Two months after the issued an order Outsourcing recruitment for short-term government and semi-government posts to nine private HR agencies, it has issued a new directive clarifying that this method of hiring can also be used in the case of strikes by government employees or emergencies, including natural disasters.

The issue of outsourcing recruitment for short-term hiring in government jobs had caused a major stir in the state assembly in March. The Opposition had alleged that the move suggested the government had no intention of fulfilling its promise to fill 75,000 government posts with permanent employees.

Under the SOPs, both the department and empanelled agencies have to register on the labour department’s portal called the Human Resource Management System.

Rs 50,000-crore investments in Maharashtra soon’

Maharashtra would attract investments of Rs50,000 crore in the next four months and a fifth of it would be in Pune district, a top official from the state’s industries department said.

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) would acquire 10,000-15,000 acres of land in the coming year to cater to these investments. Moreover, unused land for over 10 years would be taken back under a special drive after reviewing their use, said the department’s official, who did not want to be named.

Industries sources said MIDC was planning to ensure that there was enough landbank in the state this year. On December 13, the cabinet sub-committee of the state approved Investment proposals worth Rs70,000 crore in various sectors, especially in and around Vidarbha, Marathwada, Nashik and Pune regions, which were expected to create 55,000 jobs.

Pune in the first lot had attracted around investments worth Rs17,000 crore. Over Rs40,000 crore investments would be made in Naxalite-affected districts. The cabinet sub-committee in its second meeting approved the construction of three major projects in Naxalite-affected districts Gadchiroli and Chandrapur in the Vidarbha region.

7 districts share 42% unvaxxed population in Maharashtra: Report

Seven districts in Maharashtra share 42% of the unvaccinated Population, who have not yet received a single dose of Covid vaccine, despite being eligible, the state Health departments latest report revealed.

Of the states 2.23 crore unvaccinated population, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Jalgaon, Solapur, Nanded, and Ahmednagar districts have apopulation of 93.71 lakh above 18 individuals,who are eligible for a free shot,but have not come forward.

The state has a population of around 9.14 crore above 18 individuals. Of them, around 6.90 crore have taken the first dose. But the remaining 2.23 crore have not yet taken a single shot. Among all the 35 districts in Maharashtra, Mumbai has recorded 100% vaccination.

The growing perception among masses that the pandemic is over is among the main hurdles holding the state back from achieving 100% coverage of the first dose, experts said.

12th-century Kannada inscription discovered in Maharashtra’s Latur village

The 24-line inscription in old Kannada script and Kannada language was discovered a few days ago in Kasar Balkunda village, Nilanga taluk, Latur district, Maharashtra. The discovery was made byKrishna Trimbak Gudade, aMaharashtraelectricity sub-station operator.

Gudade became an ‘inscription hunter’ a few years ago. He had discovered a hero stone once. But the credit for it was claimed by someone else, he claimed. This spurred him to discover hitherto unknown inscriptions.

State to form task force to help rural farmers export agricultural products

State Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture minister Dada Bhuse said thestate governmentwas appointing atask forcein every district to boost export of agriculture produce.

The state was leading in production of agriculture produce, but farmers lack information in fetching good price and even exporting goods where there are opportunities.

The minister also added that the agriculture department would also take steps to provide guidance to the tribal community for selling their produce.

Ten technical institutes to set up centres of excellence

The has approved funding of Rs 53 crore to be distributed among 10 technical and pharmacy institutes, includingCollege of Engineering Pune, Technological Universityto set up a centre of excellence.

AtCoEP Tech University, the centre will work on industrial product design with a Rs 5 crore grant. Institutions in Nagpur, Mumbai, andAurangabadwill also be part of this programme, the higher and technical Education department said.

Centers of Excellencewill be established over the next four years. Funding will be provided for the first four years and the institutes will run the Centre on a self-financed basis, Tidke said.

Under Apartment Act, maintenance charges as per flat area: Maharashtra department order

Maintenance charges are applicable according to the area of a flat under the Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Act but not to one registered under the Act.

The state department of cooperations recent order related to a Society in south Pune had caused confusion among cooperative housing societies with members seeking a clarification from the department.

Under the Apartment Act, one has to pay maintenance as per the Percentage of ownership in proportion to the common areas and pay as per square feet. In cooperative housing societies, the land and building are owned by the society, not by individuals, and most of the maintenance charges are divided equally, irrespective of the area. These charges include sinking fund, repairs and maintenance fund as per cost. It is as per the model bye-laws of cooperative housing societies.

Rambutan tree spotted in Maharashtra for the 1st time

A species indigenous to Malaysia and Indonesia has been found for the first time inMaharashtraatKolhapurdistrict.

It is, therefore, the first scientific record of the tree in the state said renowned botanist Dr MadhukarBachulkar. Environment lover Dr Subhash Athale spotted it near Andur dam in Gaganbawda tehsil.

Rambutan is a Malaysian word. The tree got its name from the small tufted hair on the fruit which is used to make a variety of drinks from gara. Its bark, roots and leaves are used in traditional medicines and the leaves are also used to make dyes. The trees are widely cultivated for their fruits in Thailand,SriLanka, Singapore, and, to some extent, Kerala in India.

Over 1,700 hospitals aim to join state’s apex health scheme

Over 1,700 hospitals, ranging from small to mid-level, are seeking to join the state’s flagship Health scheme,Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana(MJPJAY). The state recently announced its intention to expand the quota of participating hospitals from 1,000 to 1,200, intensifying the competition.

While the state has portrayed the hospitals’ eagerness as a sign of the scheme’s success and widespread impact, insiders suggest a different motivation. Sources said several hospitals perceive the scheme as a lucrative revenue stream, with annual earnings ranging from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 5 crore from treating patients under its coverage.

In this year’s budget, the state made an announcement stating that treatment limit for each family per year would be increased from Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Additionally, government said 200 new hospitals will be included in the scheme to expand its reach. While the financial approvals for the expansion are yet to come, the online applications have been pouring in, said Vinod Bondre, acting CEO of MJPJAY.

Of the existing fixed quota of 1,000 hospitals, 272 are government and the remaining private. Bondre said hospitals frequently join and exit the scheme. However, ever since the state announced plans to expand the scheme, there has been a notable surge of interest from hospitals.
