SCERT nod must for all education trainings

The has prohibited conduct of Education-related trainings, campaigns and surveys by local authorities unless pre-approved the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

The state wants to end the unregulated involvement of NGOs, edtech companies etc in organizing training or distribution of e-Learning material at local level, as it may not be aligned withMaharashtras overall education plan.

SCERT is the apex body in state for planning and implementing training of teachers, among many other related activities.

Maharashtra University of Health Sciences signs pact to set up search portal using Harvard tech

The Nashik-basedMaharashtra University of Health Sciences(MUHS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the data science department of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a TEACHING hospital of Harvard Medical School, for developing a search portal on diseases and their patterns.

This year, the plan is to create a search-portal using 12B2 analytical tool developed by Harvard Medical School which will be made available to MUHS and teaching hospitals free of cost. We will conduct joint training programmes for capacity building at Nashik Civil Hospital, and workshops to train our faculty students and staff to use the portal. Projects for health-quality improvement and research, using the portal, will also be undertaken,Dr Madhuri Kanitkar, vice-chancellor, MUHS, said.

The 17th edition of the Mumbai International Festival for Documentary, Short Fiction, and Animation films (MIFF-2022) is scheduled to occur from 29 May to 4 June 2022.

Those films completed between 1 September 2019, and New Year’s Eve, 2021, are eligible.

The festival’s best documentary will receive a Golden Conch and 10 lakh during a cash award.

Wildlife census begins in five districts including Kolhapur

The wildlife census has begun in five districts Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara,RatnagiriandSindhudurg with a focus on increasing the Population of prey-based animals that will eventually lead to rise in population of big cats like tigers and leopards.
Over 300 beat forest guards along with local volunteers have been assigned with the task to carry out the exercise from Saturday and it is expected to be completed in next few days.
The beat forest guards equipped with GPS-enabled mobile application are walking in forests and recording every animal species and geotagging them. At the end of the exercise, the data from each of the forest guards will be compiled and uploaded online.

Increasing the population of the wild animals is the basic aim of the census. With the help ofWildlife Institute Dehradun, the initiative to enclose 16 hectare from Chandoli reserve forest is being carried out. The animals on which the tigers survive will be put in this enclosure and breeding will be carried out.

Creation of new award was announced days after the central government renamed the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award as Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.

According to Minister of State for Information and Technology, Satej Patil, award will be given to institutions and companies for their outstanding performance in information technology sector on the occasion of birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The award will be announced on August 20, 2021. It was decided to announce this award at a meeting of IT department on July 7.

Soon, drones will track mangrove hackers in Navi Mumbai, MMR

In order to check and monitor encroachments and destruction ofmangroves, the Mangrove Cell of state forest department has decided to buy drone cameras, besides CCTV installations at sensitive mangrove sites in Navi Mumbai, Thane and other parts of MMR.

Destruction of MANGROVES has been rampant across Navi Mumbai and other parts of the state. It is right that the state forest department is taking the help of available technology to monitor activities along these green stretches. It must also work with authorities in Navi Mumbai to end all territory feuds so that the mangroves are saved.

More than 80% in Maharashtra reluctant to take booster shots: Survey

The medical has started discussing the need for a second booster or the fourth shot in Light of new Covid waves in countries such as China and the US, but two surveys found people cold to even the third precautionary dose.

This reluctance is apparent in the number of takers so far: In Mumbai, only 16% of those eligible for the booster shot have taken it while 90 lakh are still to take it. In Maharashtra, over six crore people haven’t taken the booster so far.

Maharashtra has maximum beneficiaries under Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana

As per Minister of State for Labour and EMPLOYMENT, Rameshwar Teli, funds disbursed under Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY) amounts to 11 percent of Rs 2612 crores of Rs 22810, which was targeted to be spent till March 31, 2024.

Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana was rolled out during the covid-19 pandemic for generating jobs.

Maharastra has topped the list of states with highest number of beneficiaries.

Maharashtra is by Gujarat, and Karnataka.

Beneficiary Establishments

There are about 1,17,016 beneficiary establishments, under the scheme. It has benefitted 39,72,551 new employees. Central government has set a target to generate 5.85 million formal jobs by march 31, 2022. The Average time to process claims under the scheme was 7.7 days, which decreased from 11.5 days in 2019-20. In Maharashtra, there are 17, 524 beneficiary establishments. Gujarat has 12,379 beneficiary establishments which Karnataka has 8,024 beneficiary establishments.

Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY)

This scheme was launched in October 2020 as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat package 3.0.

It was launched to incentivise employers and provide them social security benefits and restore the loss of employment amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Under the scheme, central government reimburses 24-12 per cent for employees as well as employers for two years, for all new formal jobs which were created in enterprises with up to 1,000 employees.

This scheme is applicable for employees, who are earning less than Rs 15,000 in a month.

The scheme also extended benefits to the workers who had lost jobs during covid pandemic, during March 1, 2020 to September 30.

For enterprises with more than 1,000 workers, reimbursement is fixed to 12% of the employees contribution.

ASI sets up display of rare vintage cameras in Aurangabad

TheAurangabadcircle of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has brought out its collection of vintage cameras and photography-related paraphernalia dating back to more than 130 years to display at its office here, an official said.
Nearly 100 items, including 10 cameras and 90 other parts, have been put on display at the office to give visitors a rare glimpse of photography equipment used in the olden times, he said.

The Aurangabad circle of ASI (earlier called the western circle) was formed in 1885 to cover monuments in the erstwhile Bombay Presidency, which included Gujarat, parts of Karnataka,Madhya Pradeshand parts of Sindh province (Pakistan), the official said.

Maharashtra: Nine months on, Shakti bill not yet finalised

More than nine months after the draftShaktibill, pertaining to prevention of crimes against Women and children, was sent to the joint select committee of both houses of theMaharashtralegislature, it is yet to be finalised.

The MVA government tabled the draft bill, on the lines ofDisha Actframed by AP government, in December 2020 and it was sent to an all-party committee of 21 members for finalisation. The bill proposed to increase the quantum of punishment, including death and life sentences, and new categories of crime and a mechanism for speedy trial.
