The annual intake of the Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 23 per cent in the past one decade, while the consumption of beer has gone up by 14 per cent, Madhya Pradesh excise minister Jagdish Devda said in the state assembly.

He submitted a written reply in the House on Tuesday to a question raised by Congress legislator Jitu Patwari, who had asked about the status of liquor consumption in Madhya Pradesh between 2010-11 and 2020-21. In the reply, the minister stated that the annual intake of IMFL rose to 420.65 lakh proof litres in 2020-21, registering an increase of 23.05 per cent, as compared to 341.86 lakh proof litres in 2010-11.

The intake of country liquor during this period (decade) went up by 8.52 per cent to 899.16 lakh proof litres from 828.59 lakh proof litres in 2010-11, he said. Also, the consumption of beer in the state went up by 14.19 per cent to 840.77 lakh bulk litres in 2020-21 from 736.27 lakh bulk litres in 2010-11, the minister informed.

During the decade, the highest consumption of country liquor was recorded in 2015-16 at 1,170.52 lakh proof litres, he said in the reply. The highest intake of IMFL was recorded in 2019-20, when 583.48 lakh proof litres were sold. In the same year, the beer intake was the highest at 1,099.67 lakh bulk litres during this decade, he added. The minister also informed that there was no liquor ban proposal pending before the .

The two-day National Seminar on Green Energy, Clean Energy organized under the aegis of Institution of Engineers India Jabalpur Local Center concluded here on Sunday. In this seminar, eminent engineers and experts of the country gave lectures and there was a meaningful exchange of ideas.

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has decided to set up a tax plan for cow welfare in the State.

Government has decided that a tax plan will be prepared to mop up funds for cow fodder.

It has planned to impose surcharge on Services provided by local bodies in order to generate Rs 100 crore for meeting the expenses of running cow shelters in Madhya Pradesh.

It also asked that, cow products should be promoted and cow phenyl should be used across Government offices.

The Gau Samvardhan board requires Rs 160 to feed 2.6 lakh cows across 1,300 cow shelters. However, budget provided is Rs 60 crore. Thus, every day expenditure per cow is Rs 20, as against Rs 6 per day.

The State Cabinet here decided to give subsidy of over Rs 20,000 crore in electricity rates to domestic and agricultural consumers for the financial year 2021-22.

In the scheme implemented for domestic consumers, a maximum bill of Rs 100 up to the first 100 units on monthly consumption of up to 150 units, and for the BPL domestic consumers of SC and ST, the provision of charging Rs 100 in 4 months at the rate of only Rs 25 per month from domestic consumers, whose monthly consumption is 30 units, has been continued this year as well. A subsidy of Rs 4981.69 crore has been approved under the Griha Jyoti Yojana.

The Cabinet has also decided to provide relief in electricity rates to the agricultural consumer category. In this, a flat rate of Rs 750 per horsepower per year will be payable to the consumers of meterless permanent agricultural pump of capacity up to 10 horsepower. The remaining amount will be payable by the as subsidy. For this, a subsidy of Rs 9876 crore will be provided by the state government to the distribution companies. About 21 lakh 75 thousand agricultural pump consumers of the state will be benefited by this decision.

The Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME) department has proposed five clusters, namely furniture, toys, confectionery, pharmaceuticals and Food Processing in theIndoreregion. The pharmaceutical cluster is expected to come in close proximity to the Indore-Ujjain road.

Drug manufacturers have expanded capacity utilisations to enhance production of Covid-19pandemicrelated drugs and cold medicines amid apprehension that the third wave may strike anytime Indore has around 100 small and medium drug manufacturing units engaged in production of ointments, tablets, syrups and syringes among other items. Around 300 drug manufacturing units, including multinationals, operate in MP.

Under this an MoU has been signed between AISECT and the Micro, Small and Medium enterprises Department of Madhya Pradesh Government for providing support to startups through entrepreneurial ecosystem, preparing courses on and innovation, providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to eligible students through wage EMPLOYMENT and self-employment opportunities, develop market driven models and organize incubator programs to make startups sustainable.

The MoU was signed on behalf of AISECT by Dr. Siddharth Chaturvedi, Director, AISECT. On the other hand, the Micro, Small and Medium Industries Department was signed by Secretary P. Narhari on behalf of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
