Jharkhand plans 100 higher educational institutes

With the gross enrolment ratio (GER) in higher Education inJharkhandfar belowthe nationalaverage, the has decided to establish around 100 new colleges and a few more universities to improve the situation.
The GER of higher education is 17 in the state as compared to 27.3 nationally. Notably, GER is the Percentage of the Population enrolled in higher education in the age group of 18 to 23.

To increase the enrolment ratio in higher education and to spread the reach of higher education to remote and unexposed areas, it has been decided by the state government to open 100 new institutes (including polytechnics) of higher education, a government statement said.
Currently, there are only eight colleges per one lakh population aged between 18 and 23 years in the state as compared to 30 colleges per lakh at the national level.

Under the annual plan, the state government has proposed to set up 14 womens colleges to improve the GER of female students. The colleges would be opened in Koderma, Ramgarh, Chatra, Simdega, Lohardga, Gumla, Sahebganj, Pakur, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Latehar, Khunti, Madhupur, Sarath and Garhwa. The buildings of eight colleges are completed and TEACHING could begin in the next academic session.

The state government has also identified 35 assembly seats where there is no constituent college and approved the opening of degree colleges in 33 of them. Besides, degree colleges would also be established in blocks as per requirement.

CM asks officers, employees to establish a better working system in State

It is true that it is the job of the government to take a decision, but being the implementing authority, it is your job to put it on the ground and take it to the people, said Chief Minister Hemant Soren while addressing the first provincial session of Jharkhand Officer Teachers Federation at Jharkhand Technical University Auditorium.

He asked all the departmental officers and employees working as part of the government to make sincere efforts to make Jharkhand a safe, developed and advanced state.

The CM said that my government is moving in the direction of doing such work, which can set an example for the whole country and other states can implement it as a model. He said that it is our endeavour to create such a Jharkhand, where every person can stand on his own feet and live with dignity.

Quality education can enable welfare of human race: Guv

Governor Ramesh Bais inaugurated a study centre of Jharkhand Open University at Deoghar on Saturday and participated in a seminar organised on National Education Policy 2020. On the occasion he congratulated AS College, Deoghar, Economic Association of Bihar and The Indian Economic Association for organizing the event.

This education policy will help in changing the present colonial education system. Where for years our education policy was preparing only job-seeking youth, the new policy will develop such an education system which will play an important role in making youth self-reliant and job creators. This education policy also talks about character upliftment, he added.

The Governor further said that a good educational institution is considered to be one where good and appropriate Resources are provided for the Learning of every student, the teachers there are dedicated towards education, they are considerate for their students like their own children and they become a true guide. The National Education Policy 2020 envisages these parameters.

Jharkhand State Open University has been established in the state of Jharkhand and today the study center of this university is also being established here. The establishment of this study center will greatly benefit the people around, said the Governor.

Missionaries’ contribution to J’khand’s education pivotal: CM Hemant Soren

Chief ministerHemant Soren praised the contribution ofChristian missionariestowards imparting Education among the tribal communities ofJharkhand.

For years, the missionaries have played a pivotal role in providing education to the tribal people of the state. In my opinion, the missionaries contribute as much as 50% to the state’s education system,” Soren said in his address as the chief guest at the 50th anniversary of Ranchi’sGossner College.

Gossner College, which is run by the Gossner Evalgelical Lutheran church, was founded in 1972. It currently has 27 departments. Together with Gossner school, it imparts education to roughly 9,000 students.

Justice Nagarathna also said India is a land of diversity where property rights are governed by personal laws based on different religions. She stressed that even though the government has implemented legal reforms, the disparity in the inheritance of property is huge, particularly in rural areas.

As part of 75 years of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav launched Prime Minister Skills initiative to empower youth by providing entry level training in industry related skills through Railway Training Institutes. Under the aegis of Development Scheme (PMKVY), Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana was launched in a program organised at Rail Bhawan on September 17.

Chairman and CEO, RAILWAY Board, Sunit Sharma and other senior railway officers were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion Vaishnav said that it is an auspicious day as Vishwakarma Jayanti is being celebrated across the country. He also wished the Prime Minister on his birthday. Vaishnav dedicated the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana to the Prime Minister as a gift from the Railways on his birthday. The vision of Skill development is an integral part of the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 50,000 youth will be trained under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana. The objective of this initiative is to impart training skills to the youth in various trades to bring about qualitative improvement. He also emphasized that training should be given in remote areas under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana. He stressed that the youth should take advantage of the training process.

Out of 75 training centers of Indian Railways started by the Minister through video conferencing on September 17, three training centers of East Central Railway are also included. Under the Supervisor Training Center, Basic Training Center / Harnaut under Samastipur Division of ECR and Electric Traction Training Center at Gaya Colony, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction under Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Division, youth will be trained under Rail Skill Development Scheme. . On the launch, the Minister was asked by Aniket Kumar Singh, a trainee at Supervisor Training Center/Samastipur, about his interest in his trade. On this occasion, the General Manager of East Central Railway, Anupam Sharma along with senior officials of the Headquarters and Divisions were present at Samastipur.

Under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, training will be provided to 50,000 candidates over a period of three years. Initially, training will be provided to 1,000 candidates. The training will be provided in four trades i.e. Electrician, Welder, Machinist and Fitter and will consist of 100 hours of introductory basic training. Based on the assessment of regional demands and needs, training programs in other trades will be added by Zonal Railways and Production Units. The training will be provided free of cost and the participants will be selected on the basis of marks in Matriculation from the applications received online following a transparent mechanism. 10th pass and candidates between 18-35 years will be eligible to apply. However, on the basis of this training, the participants of the scheme will not have any claim of getting EMPLOYMENT in the Railways.

Jharkhand: Complete assessment of Covid health infrastructure in districts, says health secretary

The Jharkhand government has directed all administrations of 24 districts to complete the assessment of Covid-19 beds by the end of this week.

According to the department of Health, medical Education and family welfare, the move is in preparation for the predicted third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Anticipating that the third wave will affect children, each district hospital has also been directed to set up 20-bed PICUs. The state estimated that it will require 502 high-dependency units for paediatric Covid cases during the third wave.

Women, who were involved in selling Hadiya-Daru (local alcoholic drinks) are now leading a respectful life and becoming entrepreneurs.

Under the Phoolo-Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan, after conducting a detailed survey of the rural Women associated with the sale of Hadiya-Daru, counselling of these women is done by Sakhi Mandal. Counselling is an integral part of this scheme so that the ill can be eradicated from the root. These women are being linked to alternative livelihood means like agro-based livelihood, animal husbandry, forest produce collection, Sericulture, , forest produce related work and other micro-enterprises. JSLPS has made a provision of an interest-free loan of Rs 10,000, for the livelihood promotion of the beneficiary under the scheme, which is interest-free for one year, whereas, under Phoolo Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan, women can take more amounts in the form of loan from Sakhi Mandal.

Phoolo Jhano Ashirwad Scheme was started on the instructions of the Chief Minister. Women involved in liquor selling are connected with Sakhi Mandal Groups. Here, they receive thorough counselling about the ill effects of being involved in the sale of liquor. There is a provision of an interest-free loan, which ensures that these women are making good income by starting their ventures for their livelihood

‘Languages spoken by tribes need to be documented’

Linguist Anvita Abbi, stressed the need for documentation of languages spoken by minority communities to preserve these languages for future generations.
She was speaking the inauguration of training workshop on documentation of languages facing extinction organised by the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) at its campus. She said, “Efforts like proper research, survey, data collection, field work, analysis, archiving and documentation are must for conservation of languages that are facing danger.”
