Jamshedpur gets its first Satellite Mobile Eye Clinic on Van

Jamshedpur Eye Hospital (JEH) kicked-off the New Year 2023 with the inauguration of its first Satellite Mobile Eye Clinic on Van as part of its larger community outreach programme to eliminate avoidable visual impairment among the local Population. JEH will also be starting its new Software-assisted Lazy Eye Therapy, in collaboration of Bynocs Solution, in which selected cases of adult amblyopia, a condition leading to loss or lack of development of clear vision in one or both eyes, to treat by a six-week software assisted Video Gaming Program.

The inauguration of the new programmes and facilities took place at a special event in the JEH complex. The event saw the presence of officials from the hospital, key members of the Rotary Club and officials from Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) and Tata Steel. The new Satellite Mobile Eye Clinic on Van is being launched in collaboration with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur & TSF.

Given the shortage of healthcare professionals especially the specialist-cadre and trained paramedics, JEH plans to establish itself as a TEACHING and Training Eye Centre to produce well-trained, efficient Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to serve the country and this region to reduce prevalence of blindness of India from 1.99% to 0.3%. JEH is already empanelled with Arka Jain University for providing one-year mandatory Internship training to the final year student of BSc. Optometry on a selection basis. The hospital also plans to start the post-graduate fellowship training programme in cataract and other sub-specialties as well as start post-graduate DNB Teaching in Ophthalmology soon.

Jkhand to roll out smart agro village scheme soon

The state Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture department is soon going to launch smart agro village scheme to develop several pockets into model agri-centres which will promote latest farming techniques and boost farmers income.

Local MLAs have been asked to recommend sites for the scheme in their respective constituencies.

Jharkhand has 81 MLAs of which the minister said that so far they have received recommendations from 36 law makers.

Detailing on the scheme, he said, Under this project, we aim to develop the identified hamlet into a model and zone. Out here, all the best practices of agriculture and its allied activities will be implemented to encourage other hamlets to take up agriculture. The idea is to promote such models of agriculture through community participation so that farmers income can increase, productivity gets enhanced and Jharkhands overall agri-capacity gets a boost.

The State Government celebrated Jharkhand Day at the Jharkhand pavilion of the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The speakers at the fair threw light on the State’s nature and rich tribal culture. The speakers said that the social environment, living style, and folk culture of the State are incomparable. Folk artists from the State also displayed the folk culture of Jharkhand.

On the occasion, Jharkhand’s Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, Labour, Planning, Training and Skill development Minister Satyanand Bhokta, Jharkhand Government’s regional Commissioner Mast Ram Meena, Industries and Mines and Geology Department Secretary, Pooja Singhal, Secretary, Rural Development Department, Manish Ranjan, Secretary Information and Technology and E-Governance Kripanand Jha, Director SUDA Amit Kumar, Director Silk Divyanshu Jha, Managing Director Jharcraft Akanksha Ranjan, Managing Director Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation R Ronita, Managing Director JSLPS Nancy Sahay along with other senior officials were present.

The programme started with speakers paying tributes to tribal freedom fighter Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, followed by the guests visiting the state’s pavilion at the trade fair. Appreciating the folk artists skill and work the Minister Mithilesh Thakur said that trade fair is a good platform to showcase the development taking place in the state.

He said that Jharkhand state is the land of Lord Birsa Munda, Sidho-Kanhu and other brave sons, who played an important role in India’s freedom struggle. The state of Jharkhand is full of culture, tourism, art, Minerals in all respects. We have 40 per cent of the total mineral wealth of the country, in which iron, gold, mica, uranium etc. are in abundance.

Jharkhand is mulling to set up human milk banks in a bid to provide breast milk to babies born to women who either fail to lactate or do not lactate enough due to various medical conditions or ailments.

As a part of this project, the first such milk bank is likely to come up in Ranchi, officials involved in the planning of the project said, claiming that the milk banks will function like blood banks and lactating mothers will be able to donate milk as a voluntary act to save lives of babies whose biological mothers fail to lactate.

Women suffering from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Hypothyroidism or hypoplastic breasts a condition in which a woman has insufficient glandular Tissues are unlikely to lactate after giving birth to a child, say doctors. Also, women who have undergone breast surgeries or chemotherapy may not be able to lactate.

On the other hand, many healthy and lactating mothers often produce more breast milk than their babys requirement. The surplus milk, which is usually wasted, can be donated to the milk banks, say doctors.

Filaria eradication programme will be launched in 12 filaria affected districts of the State by Health Minister Banna Gupta. This programme will run from August 23 to August 27 in the filaria affected areas.

Mass Drug Administration campaign with two drugs DEC and Albendazole in 11 districts namely Giridih, Chatra, Dumka, East Singhbhum, Garhwa, Godda, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Lohardaga, Ranchi, West Singhbhum and three drugs that DEC, Albendazole and Ivermectin in Simdega will be done in compliance with the restrictions and protocols of Covid-19. The Mission Director said that the success of this programme is possible only when there is public participation in it and appealed to all the beneficiaries to take anti-filaria medicine.

AState-level programme under Project Shishu for rehabilitation of children orphaned due to Covid-19 was organised by the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority in the virtual presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Cum-Patron-in-Chief Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Dr Ravi Ranjan, Judge Jharkhand High Court cum Executive Chairman JHALSA, Aparesh Kumar Singh and other honorable Judges, Jharkhand High Court.

Under Project Shishu, a complete scheme has been made for the rehabilitation of orphaned children. The programme started with NALSA song and welcome message by Member Secretary JHALSA Mohammad Shakir.

Launching the programme, Chief Minister Soren said that under Project Shishu, a campaign has been started to support the orphaned children. Soren appreciated the efforts of Jhalsa members in launching the project. Chief Dr. Ravi Ranjan described Project Shishu as a major step taken for the rehabilitation of children orphaned in the epidemic. He said that this project has been launched at the right time and urged that there is a need for human sensitivity for the rehabilitation of children.

States dues at Centres new receipt portal causes power shortage

Due to the new receipt portal of the Central Government, a serious power crisis has gripped Jharkhand. In this scorching summer, the demand for electricity in the State has reached a record level of 2900 MW. But only 2200 MW power is being supplied. Still, a shortage of 500 to 700 MW of electricity is being registered in the State.

In such a situation, the power crisis has deepened. Even after booking, electricity is not being received from the Indian Energy Exchange. JBVNL has stopped getting additional power from the Indian Energy Exchange for not paying the outstanding amount of Rs 47 crore for the power being bought through auction. In such a situation, there is a shortage of 500 to 700 MW of power in the State. Due to which load shedding is happening. Due to load shedding, power cuts are being done in the State including the State Capital.

JBVNL owes Rs 47 crores to the Indian Energy Exchange. Rs 20 crores have been paid so far. The remaining amount of Rs 27 crores will be paid on Tuesday. Only after this, electricity will be available from the central sector as per the demand.

Jhalsa forms war rooms to help people in distress amid rising Covid figures

With the second wave of the pandemic here, theJharkhandLegal Services Authority (Jhalsa) established a central war room in Ranchi and other units in the districts which will be operational for 24×7 to help people in distress, mainly those who need Covid-related assistance.

The districtwar roomswill coordinate with patients and the District Administration, including the civil surgeons, to provide assistance to patients down with Covid-19 and others requiring help.

Jharkhand steps up fight against anaemia

Jharkhand, which is confronted with a high prevalence of anaemia among Women and children, has decided to embark on an ambitious mission to eradicate it from the state.

Ayush is an acronym forAyurveda, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathyand is a department under the Union Health ministry.

The Ayush official said the kits would be distributed even in the remotest of blocks in Jharkhand through health and wellness centres.

Nearly 67.5 per cent of children aged between five months and five years were anaemic according to the NFHS report. Around 65.5 per cent children living in rural areas and 67.9 per cent in urban areas were found to be anaemic. Of all the expecting mothers, 67.5 per cent have been found to be anaemic. Anaemia among women aged between 15 and 49 years was found to be 65.3 per cent.
