Himachal Pradesh is showing a steady trend of decline in the anemia which is evident from Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) Index, 2020-2021 national rankings. The state has secured third position with a score of 57.1 as per the rating, said an official spokesman.

On this score card, Himachal Pradesh was at 18th rank in the year 2018-2019 but with consistent efforts of the Government this rank has been improved to third in the 2020-21 AMB index, the spokesman said. He said that anemia prevention and control has been the priority agenda of . The government is working with various strategies under Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment (POSHAN) Abhiyan and targets have been setup to reduce anemia.

The program covers the age groups of children 6 to 59 months, adolescents and Women of reproductive age 15 to 49 years.

The Anemia Mukt Bharat aims to provide preventive and curative mechanisms through a 666 strategy including six target beneficiaries, six interventions and six institutional mechanisms, for all stakeholders to implement the strategy. The strategy emphasizes on improving supply chain, targeted monitoring and continuous social mobilization using various channels of Communication.

This comprehensive strategy is expected to yield positive results in decreasing anemia prevalence. The score card and rankings in the Anemia Mukt Bharat Index are based on certain parameters like coverage of IFA supplementation across selected target beneficiaries to support assessment of progress and performance of the programme.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the My CM-My Pride initiative, which enables any individual to download his photo clicked with the CM.

Sukhu said it signified the state governments commitment to utilising technological advancements to establish a stronger connection with the public. We are firm on incorporating technology to bring to their functioning, he added.

Tribal status sought for 21 Bharmour panchayats

The Gramin Welfare Society, Samra-Lihal of Bharmour, has reiterated its demand for granting tribal status to 21 panchayats which fall in Bharmour assembly constituency of Chamba district.

These 21 non-tribal panchayats of Bharmour tribal constituency are a part of the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency.

The societys general secretary Tarsem Bhardwaj in a representation to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that inhabitants of these non-tribal panchayats were being used merely as vote bank in the name of tribal area but had been ignored for tribal development funds.

CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu alerts people on grim financial position of Himachal Pradesh

Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presenting the Rs 53,413 crore budget estimates for 2023-24 in the assembly on Friday also reminded the people about the grim financial position of Himachal Pradesh.
He said that the states budgetary Resources have been adversely affected due to discontinuation of GST compensation after June last year and this will adversely affect the financial position of the state in coming years. He said that Grant (RDG) from the Central government will reduce from Rs 9,377 crore in 2022-23 to Rs 3,257 crore in 2025-26. Notwithstanding these challenges, the pace of development of the state will not be allowed to be adversely affected, he added.

Underlining the need to define targets to ensure uninterrupted delivery of quality public Services like electricity, water and roads in a specific time frame instead of merely opening new institutions, he said he appreciate the fact that good government with Governance“>Good Governance is an imperative for welfare of people of the State.

HP approves new scheme to promote low-cost transport ops in rural belt

Himachal Pradeshchef ministerJai Ram Thkaur said that the was aware of the hardships faced by private transporters, and therefore has provided several concessions to them. This was stated by the CM while addressing the Samman Samaroh of Himachal Pradesh Private Bus Operators Union at Dargola inShahpur Vidhan Sabhaarea ofKangradistrict.

He said that the state government has approved Swarna JayantiGram Swarozgar Transport Schemeto promote low-cost transport operations in rural areas. Under this scheme, unemployed youth would be given permits for buses upto 18 seater at concessional tax rates and as many as 107 routes have been identified under this scheme.

Himachal Pradesh seeks higher share in old hydel power projects

Himachal Pradeshwants a higher share in the power projects that were commissioned 25 years ago and have completed their loan repayment. Chief ministerSukhvinder Singh Sukhurequested Union minister of power, new and R K Singh in Delhi on Wednesday evening to enhance this share from 12 to 15%.

About the states share in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) projects, he said that theSupreme Courthas also given a verdict in favour of the state regarding the payment of arrears and its share, so the BBMB should be directed to now pay this Money. Sukhu pointed out that theShananproject had completed its lease period, so the State Government will take it over for further execution. He said the state had 12,000 megawatts of hydroelectricity potential to harness for economic Growth, revenue, jobs, and a better Quality Of Life. Regarding the scope for building solar-power projects, he said his government had relaxed the rules for Investment in this sector and empowered the deputy commissioners to accord permission.

Himachal Pradesh govt alters state mining rules

TheHimachal Pradeshgovernment has made major changes in the Mining Rules-2015 to provide relief to PWD contractors by issuing two notifications in this regard simultaneously. These changes have been made in Rule 3A, 17, 19, 23, 31, 33 and 67 of Himachal Pradesh Minor Minerals (Concession) and Prevention of Mineral (Illegal Mining) Their Transport and Storage Rules, 2015.

In these, a provision has been made that now digging of up to one and a half meters for a brick kiln will not be considered as mining and for this there will be a royalty of one lakh rupees per annum. Making changes in mechanical mining, the State Government has now allowed the use of loaders of 80 HP capacity without scrap. It will not be classified as mechanical mining and for this permission will have to be taken from the Director, Industries. The application fee for mechanical mining will beRs 3 lakh and security will be Rs 5 lakh.

To increase the capacity of stone crushers and mining leases, now all lease holders will have to deposit 60 per cent royalty of the total capacity to the government even if they use or exploit less minerals than this. Actually, many stone crushers hide the production by giving less M form, so that royalty does not have to be paid. Now this will not happen.

Centre approves Rs 2,614 crore for 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Project in Himachal Pradesh

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved of Rs 2,614 crore for the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh.

The Run of River project being executed on Satluj river in Shimla and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh will have 71-meter-high concrete gravity Dam and six generating units in its surface Power House.

The project shall generate 1382 million units annually and the levelized tariff of electricity generated will be R 3.90 per unit. The project is scheduled to be commissioned within 63 months of the commencement of construction works. The project is being financed on a 70:30 debt Equity ratio and on completion it will earn 16.50% return on equity for SJVN.

Shimla divided into 5 zones to tackle snow hardships

The District Administration has chalked out a plan dividing Shimla city into five sectors and appointed officers for each sector with a view to ensuring that people do not face hardships due to the snowfall.

A meeting was held here under chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi to review the preparedness of the administration to handle any situation arising out snowfall. It was decided that the officers concerned would also hold meetings with other officers regarding the measures to be taken.

Negi said that Sanjauli, Dhalli, Kufri, Naldehra, Mashobra and Baldian would fall under Sector-I, Dhalli-Sanjauli bypass, Sanjauli Chowk-IGMC-Lakkar Bazaar-Victory Tunnel, Kaithu, Bharari, Chaura Maidan, Annandale and the Deputy Commissioners office under Sector-II, Shimla bypass via the ISBT to Shoghi, Chhakar, Boileauganj, HPU, Totu, Jutogh, Nabha, Phagli, Khalini, Vikas Nagar and BCS under Sector III.

Himachal Pradesh has highest urban female life expectancy at birth: Study

The hill state ofHimachal Pradeshhas the highest life expectancy at birth for females in urban areas a key indicator of the genders Health and social development while the entire region has fared better than the national Average in womens overall life expectancy.

The average life expectancy at birth for females at the all-India level was 71.4 years between 2016 and 2020, as observed by theSample Registration System(SRS) of the Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India. This figure was 77.5 years in Himachal Pradesh, 74.5 years inPunjab, and 73 years inHaryana. The expected female life span in the states urban areas was 81 years against the national average of 71.9 years, 78.1 years in Punjab, and 75.1 years in Haryana.

Himachal had the hightest female life expectancy both at the age of 60 and in childhood. The overall life expectancy at birth in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal was higher in the urban areas. There was a difference of 2.8 years in female-male life expectancy at birth, at the national level, while the maximum difference of 7.2 years was in Himachal. For life expectancy at 70, this difference was about a year at the national level and 4.2 years in Himachal. The difference in urban-rural life expectancy at birth was 4.2 years at the national level and Punjab, 3.9 years in Himachal Pradesh, and 3.5 years in Haryana.
