Himachal Govt seeks public suggestions for state budget 2023-24

Ahead of the first budget session of Himachal Pradeshs newly elected Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress Government has invited suggestions from the general public, industries, trade and farmers association on the state budget for the year 2023-24.

Initiating the process of formulation of this years state budget, the suggestions have been invited to make it more people-centric, participative and reflective of the views of various stakeholders in the Society.

Bio-metric attendance in all departments, boards, corporations in Himachal

The today directed all the departments, board, corporations and universities to start bio-metric attendance in view of the High Court directives.

Deputy Secretary (Personnel) Balbir Singh today shot off a letter to all Administrative Secretaries, heads of departments, all divisional commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Managing Directors of all boards and corporations in this regard.

The court in its orders had directed the Chief Secretary to issue necessary directions to all the departments, boards and corporation to make bio-metric attendance operational.

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched Rs 1010.60 crore phase-II of the HP Crop Diversification Promotion Project (HPCDP) supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the state.

The Chief Minister while presiding over the launching ceremony at Dharamshala, said that the is committed for the development of rural areas as more than 90 percent of the total Population lives in these areas and about 70 percent of the population is dependent on the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture sector for livelihood.

Despite limited financial Resources and slowdown due to the Corona pandemic, the present State Government has launched various new schemes to promote Irrigation, agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and allied sectors besides ensuring all-round and equitable development of Himachal, he said.

The phase-I of the project being implemented in five districts of Mandi, Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una on pilot basis since 2011 has virtually transformed the economy of the farmers in these districts. The main objective of this project is to disseminate a successful model of crop diversification and increase the vegetable area in the project area from 2500 hectares to 7000 hectares by 2031, he said.

The Chief Minister further said that in order to fulfil the vision and commitment towards rapid development of the state, the government is mobilizing resources from all possible sources including the Central Government, external funding agencies like JICA, World Bank and Asian Development Bank etc. The State Government considers JICA to be the most important source of financial support and partner in development of Himachal, he added.

Himachal polls on November 12; no dates for Gujarat as Election Commission goes by 2017 convention

The Assembly poll in Himachal Pradesh would be conducted on November 12 while the counting of votes would take place on December 8, the of India (ECI) announced today. The poll panel, however, refrained from announcing the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Elections, usually declared simultaneously with the hill state.

The term of the 68-member Himachal Assembly ends on January 8, 2023, and that of the Gujarat House on February 18 next year. In 2017, the commission had announced the Himachal elections on October 12 and in Gujarat on October 25. The counting was conducted on December 18.

Gujarat, Kerala and Tamil Nadu lead the third state food safety index rankings released by the food regulator on Monday while Himachal Pradesh is the top ranked regional state at sixth place.

Punjab and Haryana are 11th and 12th, respectively, among 20 large states with Bihar ranked last.

Among the UTs, Jammu and Kashmir is the leader followed by , Delhi and Chandigarh.

The report assesses the following major indicators availability of human Resources in the food sector in proportion to the Population; overall coverage of food businesses in licensing and registration commensurate with size and population; promptness in attending to the consumer grievances and availability of help desk and web portals for grievance redressal; food testing Infrastructure and surveillance to ensure quality of foods; training and capacity building of the regulatory staff and laboratory personnel; and consumer Empowerment through food fortification, eat right and hygiene rating of restaurants.

Two sites on lake banks in Himachal notified for water sports

The Himachal Pradesh Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry has notified two sites on the banks of the Gobind Sagar reservoir of the Bhakra dam at Androuli and Lathiani villages for water Sports activities.

Kanwar said that a technical team from the Water Sports wing of the Directorate of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (DMAS), Manali, had inspected both sites located in the Kutlehar Assembly segment some time ago and given its Consent for running water sports and allied adventure activities there.

He said that Baba Garib Nath temple at Androuli village, which gets partially submerged in the Gobind Sagar during the monsoons, and the Lathiani Ghat are picturesque locations and would soon be developed for water and adventure sports to boost tourism in the region.

SJVN wins Swachhta Pakhwada Awards-2023

The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has been conferred with the first prize at the prestigious Swachhta Pakhwada Award – 2023 by the Union Ministry of Power. SJVN chairman Nand Lal Sharma received the prize from the Union Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal in New Delhi.

Sharma said that the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards were conferred by the Union Ministry of Power to honour the (PSUs) in the power sector for their exemplary performance during the Swachhta Pakhwada from May 16 to 31 every year. The PSUs were evaluated on the basis of the initiatives undertaken to create awareness regarding the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan among the masses.

The action plan of this year included plantation drives, awareness camps, cleanliness campaigns as well as special drives to strengthen the use of eco-friendly material, installation of solid waste disposal machines and dustbins in public places. Besides, the firm organised awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, installed sanitary pad incinerators in government educational institutions for girls and distributed sanitisation and personal hygiene materials in local communities.

Thakur meets Sitharaman, seeks help for Rs1,892-cr ADB project

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and requested her to provide financial assistance to the state as recommended by the 15th .

Himachal Pradesh lacks Resources for Investment in Infrastructure projects like expansion of Kangra airport and construction of Mandi Airports. Hence, the financial assistance is of great significance for the development of the state

He apprised the minister that a tourism project of Rs 1,892 crore proposed to Asian Development Bank (ADB) for funding was also awaiting approval. He requested her for the speedy approval to the project.

Thakur also urged for GST compensation due for the financial years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-2020 to be provided to the state. He sought her intervention in expediting negotiations with the World Bank for funding of Himachal Hydro Power and renewable power sector development programme.

Anurag: Centre of excellence in Hamirpur to promote sports

Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting,said that a centre of excellence would be set up in Hamirpur to hone young sporting talents and promote Sports.

Thakur was speaking at the Hamir Sangam organised by the Hamirpur Welfare Association at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) here. The centre of excellence, which will spot young talent and prepare Olympiad-level sportspersons, will be established in Hamirpur in the next two years, he said.

Himachal Pradesh gearing up to tackle possible third wave of Covid: CM Jai Ram Thakur

Chief minister Jai RamThakursaid thatHimachal Pradeshis gearing up to tackle Covid’s possible third wave by boosting the Health required to treat the children as it is being said that children would be affected the most in the third wave.

Thakur said that health department officials have been directed to prepare the plan accordingly as the treatment protocol of children would be different than that of adult Covid patients.

He said that Himachal Pradesh is the only state where Covid patients were not turned down admissions in the hospitals in the want of beds, ventilators or Oxygen. He added, during the first wave of corona pandemic last year, the state had started the process of strengthening health infrastructure and when positive cases surged during the second wave, the state had increased the bed capacity and other facilities accordingly.
