HNLU’s new IPR chair to promote innovation and research in IP Laws

Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) has obtained the Intellectual PropertyChairof the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (CIPAM) of the Ministry of Commerce and under the Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA).

According to the norms of this establishment of the Chair, there will be funding for appointing a Professor, Research associates, and sponsoring PhD candidates in IPR. The funding norms will also mandate conducting workshops and training programs onIPRfor other institutions and various stakeholders, as stated in an HNLU press release.SPRIHA also mandates the offering of UG/PG/Diploma and Certificate courses in IPR and allows internships for students at IP offices in India.

Saur Sujala boosts farmers income

Farmers in Chhattisgarhs Mohla Manpur district have experienced a boost in their income by using solar Irrigation pumps and their awareness has resulted in the installation of solar pumps in the village.

The main objective of the solar pump to be set up by the under the Saur Sujala Yojana is to ensure irrigation facilities to the farmers residing at the remote villages in state.

Cgarhs tendu leaves get good response in auctions

A total of 68 percent of the notified quantity of tendu patta procured was sold in Chhattisgarh through two phases of auctions at an Average rate of Rs 7,199 per standard bag amounting to Rs 822 crore.

According to the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Federation Ltd, a post-bid sale management Software has been developed for online auction of tendu patta.

This year, the Federation is paying special attention to the quality of tendu leaves before collection, ensuring that collectors gather high-quality leaves and receive maximum remuneration, a Communication said on Friday.

The government has hiked the tendu leafcollection rate from Rs 2,500 per standard bag to Rs 4,000 per standard bag since 2019.

In Chhattisgarh, online tenders were invited for the first phase of advance sale of 954 lots of 902 primary minor forest produce . The notified quantity of 16.72 lakh standard bags of tendu patta was collected in 2022-23.

No one from Chhattisgarh on Padma list this year

Officials said the awards are conferred on the recommendations made by the Padma Awards Committee, which is constituted every year. The nomination process is open to the public while the State Government also sends nominations for the honour.

This year, the Chhattisgarh government had sent eight names forPadma Shriand two names for Padma Bhushan, said an official, adding that they don’t know how many others have nominated themselves or others.

Renowned Panthi dancer Dr Radheshyam Barle was conferred the Padma Shri in 2021, and famous Pandwani exponent Teejan Bai is the only one to have received the Padma Shri (1988), Padma Bhushan (2003) and Padma Vibhushan in 2019 for art.

A total of 23 persons have received the Padma honours in Chhattisgarh so far.

The total public debt of Chhattisgarh has increased by 20.85 percent in 2019-20, from Rs 52,254.22 crores (2018-19) to Rs 63,164.72 crores (2019-20). The fiscal deficit was Rs 17,969.55 crores, which is 5.46 percent of GSDP and which exceeded the MTFP (Money Follows the Person Initiative) target of 2.99 percent of GSDP.

In 2018-19, the state had achieved a revenue surplus of Rs 683.76 crores. The Public Debt increased by 20.85 percent in 2019-20. The state government has an off-budget liability of Rs 694.26 crores towards repayment of loans taken by various entities, in addition to its budgeted liabilities of Rs 78,712.46 crores. The report said the government had provided budgetary support and accepted liability (guarantee) for Rs 17,610.17 crores in 14 Public Sector Undertaking during the period for which their accounts are in arrear up to March 31, 2020. These PSUs have not finalized their accounts for the last 1-4 years in gross violation of the Companies Act.

Chief ministerBhupesh Baghellaunched an online portal direct building permit system on Monday for the construction of buildings on residential plots up to 500 square meters (5382 sq. ft) in urban areas.Citizenswill be able to receive permission for construction of their building through a portal. Artificial intelligence based direct building permit system to be installed in every municipal corporation ofChhattisgarh. Under this system, building permits will be issued without manual intervention.

Baghel said that this newly-introduced building permit system will expedite the development in cities of the state. This system would offer an effective solution to the existing problems in the permit issuance process. Building permit issuance is an important process for the citizens of the state who want to build their own house, but earlier this process was complicated, time-taking and not easily accesible, required map approval from several officials. But now this entire process will be free from human intervention and will be completed in shorter duration. If the applicant has all the required documents, then getting the permit to build a house would be a matter of second.
