Legal aid defense counsel offices to be launched in 5 dist

Aiming to upgrade the delivery oflegalaid, the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) will launch the theLegal Aid Defense Counsel(LADC) offices in the remaining five judicial districts of the state on Wednesday. The five judicial districts where the LADC offices will come up are Bemetara, Balod, Kondagaon, Dantewada and Jashpur.

The need for reform in the existing free legal aid model was recognized by NALSA during its 25th anniversary. In response, a pilot project was launched in 12 districts, including Bilaspur, to establish LADC offices. The success of the pilot project led to the expansion of the initiative to 17 districts in Chhattisgarh in the second phase.

Seven primary health centres (PHCs) in Chhattisgarh have received the National Quality Assurance Certification (NQAC) Award, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Awards were given by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry after a virtual evaluation of the PHCs.

The certification was provided after the health centres satisfied rigorous parameters related to Services availability set by experts from the government of India.

Two PHCs (Surguja-Lundra and Raghunathpur) received the NQAC award. Likewise, Khadgavan in Korea district, Deorvija in Bemetara, Mandir Hasoud in Raipur, Rahod in Janjgir and Patewa in Mahasamund too got the awards.

For getting NQAC certification award, a PHC must score above 70 marks in evaluation. This nationwide evaluation was introduced to improve the service quality at PHCs. The PHCs are evaluated on the basis of an 8-point checklist.

NQAC judges a health centre mainly on service availability, cleanliness, CCTV camera and numbers of doctors. Other factors also play a role.

Cabinet nod to Jagannath Temple Acts amendment

The state cabinet, headed by chief ministerNaveen Patnaik approved a proposal for amendment of the ShriJagannathTemple Act, 1954, paving way for easy and simplified settlement of immovable properties/lands of the shrine in favour of those in occupation for decades.

With the amendment planned through ordinance route, the has decided to remove certain restrictions regarding settlement of the land.

The settlement is being done by paying required fees as decided under the Uniform Policy introduced in 2003.

Rajyotsava fair boosts women SHG products

The products of Women Self-Help groups have earned an overwhelming response at the Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava fair which concluded on Sunday.

The goods made by SHGs include mobile pockets, bags of banana fiber, cookies, earthen lamps, decoration items, candles, floor cleaners, handwash and soaps.

Artists from all over the country and abroad who took part in the National Tribal Dance Festival also visited the stalls.

The Panchayat and Rural Development Department exhibition at Rajyotsava also showcased schemes related to Narva Treatment, Swachh Bharat Mission and Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park.

The exhibition depicted road construction undder the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana and Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Yojana.

Clear policy required to deal with fly ash problem: FICCI

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and , Chhattisgarh has suggested that increasing punishments or punishing the power plant alone is not a solution but clear policy to fix responsibility of every stake holder is also necessary to solve the problem of fly ash menace.

The state, which is among the leading states in thermal power generation, has been facing the problem of fly ash since the beginning. Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate-change”>Climate Change issued another notification on April 22, 2021 and made some more stringent provisions regarding disposal of fly ash. Since these provisions will come into effect from April one, 2022.

FICCI has suggested that before the new notification comes into force, a systematic solution to the problem can pave the way for Sustainable Development. In order to dispose of fly ash, the government must make a condition of using only ash and its products compulsorily in all the tenders of construction works and mandatory rules for transportation and disposal should be made, use of fly ash should be mandatory for end users.

Cgarh raises concern over protocol violation

The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday raised concern over violation of protocol during a visit by the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal team.

The tribunal is on a visit to Chhattisgarh and Odisha over the sharing of waters of the Mahanadi basin.

The Chhattisgarh government said it was unfortunate that ahead of the tribunal’s visit to Odisha news was being published contrary to the spirit of joint protocol agreed upon between the two states.

The storage capacity of Odisha’s Hirakud Reservoir on the Mahanadi is much more than the storage capacities of all the reservoirs in the Mahanadi basin in Chhattisgarh put together. So, Odisha has no reason to complain about water shortage.

Odisha has an exploitative Water Resource Management of the Mahanadi Basin, Chhattisgarh said.

Govts ambitious scheme for girls

The Mukhyamatri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana is an ambitious scheme of the Chhattisgarh government in which Rs 20,000 is credited directly in the bank account of girls from workers’ families for self-EMPLOYMENT and higher Education.

So far 8,262 daughters of construction workers have benefited under the scheme. A total of Rs 16.52 crore has been transferred to the accounts of the girls, an official Communication said.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the online dashboard of Chief Minister Slum Health Scheme (CMSHS) and a gift pack of the traditional cuisine Joran gift pack on the occasion of State Foundation Day.

The event was held at the official residence of the Chief Minister here.

With the launch of the dashboard, people will be able to take advance appointments for free treatment. They can also track the arrival of mobile medical unit vehicles in their area.

The medical prescription and test report of the patients will be available online.

The scheme was launched on November 1, 2020. The aim was to provide free and better Health facilities to people in slums. The facility is extended through 60 mobile medical units in 14 municipal areas.

The gift pack of Chhattisgarhs traditional cuisine delicacies includes Barja ki Barfi’, Darbha Coffee, Ragi Cookies, Bajra and Bastar Cashew Cookies, Millet Peda, ‘Papchi’, ‘Typhari’ and more.

The pack has been prepared by Women self-help groups under the Urban Livelihood Mission of Raipur. Officials said that soon it would be available on platforms like Amazon.

11.7% population in state suffering from mental illness

AmidChhattisgarhwitnessing young suicides in past few years along with emerging trend of addiction of various kinds, a study by SIMHANS mentions that 11.7 percent of Population of the state suffers from mental illness.

The increase in incidents of road rage, crime, rapes are not the signs of mental well being, and insisted to inculcate mental Health Education in the school curriculum of children.

It was also suggested that the doctors themselves need to be sensitive to ask key questions to their patients and medical courses should have an exam on medical mental health for all streams.
