Chhattisgarhgovernment laid foundation of 658 projects worth Rs 238 crores to ensure clean drinking water supply to households. The state is eyeing to provide potable water to more than 22 lakh families would through tap connection this year.

Chief ministerBhupesh Baghelsaid that all 45.8 lakh rural families of the state will be provided pure drinking water supply through free tap connections by the end of year 2023.

He asserted that the would achieve this target within the stipulated time period in any case. Chief minister said that under Jal Jeevan Mission, so far 5.6 lakh houses have been equipped with tap connections and remaining 65,396 houses would get it soon.

Sufficient funds would be provided for ensuring pure drinking water supply to each and every household of the state, and provision of Rs 850 crore has been made in the state budget this year for this work, said CM .

Congress leaderRahul Gandhiwill launch the scheme by releasing the first instalment to 3.55 lakh beneficiaries at a function in Raipur on February 3.

Titled as ‘Rajiv Gandhi rural landless agri workers NYAY Yojana’, this is the third NYAY scheme of theBhupesh Baghelgovernment. The Congress-ruled state had earlier startedRajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojanafor providing agriculture input subsidy to the farmers and GodhanNYAY Yojana under which the state procures cow dung from cattle rearers at a price of Rs 2 per kg a unique scheme of its kind in the country.

Significantly, 70 per cent of the Population of Chhattisgarh is engaged in agricultural activities. A large number of agricultural labourers do not have their own agricultural land and work as labourers on the land of others to support their families. Hence, to improve the financial condition of the landless labourers in the state, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel announced the implementation ofRajiv Gandhirural landless agri workers NYAY Yojana.

As per revenue department officials, landless agricultural labourers were registered for the scheme from September 1, 2021, to November 30, 2021. Along with this, necessary guidelines were issued by the revenue and Disaster Management department to all the district collectors to identify the beneficiaries and provide them grants on annual basis. According to the information received from the department, so far 3.55 lakh beneficiaries have registered to take advantage of Rajiv Gandhi rural landless agri workers NYAY Yojana.
The eligibility under the scheme will be only for the native residents of Chhattisgarh. Under the rural landless agricultural labour families, families belonging to the including shepherds, carpenters, blacksmiths, cobblers, barbers, washermen and priests, forest produce collectors and other categories are will be upgraded from time to time will for its eligibility. The necessary condition for the beneficiaries of this scheme is that the beneficiary family should not have agricultural land. Land held for residential purposes will not be treated as agricultural land.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday named the Kharkhara reservoir in Balod district after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

He made the announcement while addressing a Kisan Sammelan in village Godmarra in Daundilohara block of Balod. He also declared a beautification of Godmarra Ghat.

Baghel was welcomed by farmers and presented a plough. They presented him a traditional farmers turban.

The Chief Minister felicitated farmers for their exemplary work. He honoured holders Dhansuram and Chandra Kumar for selling cow dung of over Rs 1 lakh under Godhan Nyay Yojana and Women of Gayatri Self Help Group for making organic manure.

Baghel also unveiled a life size statue of Rajiv Gandhi at the venue.

Along the lines of Sevagram village model developed in Maharashtra’s Wardha,Chhattisgarhgovernment will develop a ‘Sevagram village’ inNaya Raipur. For this, 76.5 acres of land has been earmarked.
The project will seek to work as the vision ofMahatma Gandhi’s Gram Swaraj. A ‘second Home‘ for the elderly and a school for the underprivileged will also be set up in Sevagram, said Baghel.

The site also has two canals in an area of about five acres. Sevagram will be set up in the remaining 75 acres of land. Sewagram will be developed in such a way that there is a glimpse of the traditional rural building style of Chhattisgarh. Locally available construction materials will be used. The roads inside the ashram will also be in harmony with the rural Environment. The entire area will be full of greenery till the service village.
