Now Bal Darbar in 29 Bihar districts from November 14 to 20

The state social welfare department will start a new initiative, Bal Darbar, Hamar Darbar, in association with Unicef on the lines of janata darbar. Children and adolescents will get a chance to place their grievances before peoples representatives, district magistrates and senior officials of departments concerned at the Bal Darbar.

The Bal Darbar will be organised across 29 districts from November 14 to 20 during the Child Rights Safety Week.

Initially, 30 to 40 children and adolescents from different social groups will be able to raise various issues related to their districts. Seven to eight representatives will then be selected from among these children and adolescents to meet the DM concerned. Finally, one person from each group will be selected for participation in the state-level darbar on November 20.

New Patna airport not being shifted to Chapra, says Bihar govt

The Bihar government on Friday clarified that the upcoming new Patna airport will be constructed in Bihta and there is no plan to shift it to Chapra in Saran district.

Besides Bihta, the Bihar government has also earmarked 50 acres for Purnea airport, 121 acres for the expansion of Raxaul airport and 75 acres for Muzaffarpur airport. It is also providing 78 acres for the expansion of Darbhanga airport, where the AAI will construct a new civil enclave terminal building, cargo, multi level parking and fire station.

Bihar’s Nitish Kumar government managed to gave only 3 per cent employment to labourers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme between 2014 to 2019, the Comptroller and Auditor General said in a report.As per the report, there were 26 to 36 per cent people in Bihar who applied for 100 days guaranteed employment under the MNREGS but only 3 per cent got work.The report further said that 86.61 per cent labourers do not have land in Bihar and were completely dependent on the scheme. It conducted a survey among 60.88 lakh labourers before preparing the report.The CAG has also found financial irregularities in the Nitish Kumar government’s ambitious project, Lohia Path Chakra, the multi-purpose grade separator on Bailey Road near Raj Bhavan in Patna.

The government auditor said that construction company Bihar Rajya Pul Nirmaan Nigam Ltd (BRPNNL) has taken some wrong decisions during planning, preparation of Detail Project Report (DPR) and construction, wrongly expending Rs 6.04 crore in design, Rs 10.86 crore on specialist observers, and Rs 1.52 crore on other expenses.

Nearly 5 lakh guest workers register in labour dept portal

The department launched the portal in April 2020 to create a realtime database of the guest workers in the state. Within a span of two months from the launch of the portal, the department has registered 3.49 lakh guest workers. The department has continued the exercise with the help of the district administrations and we have registered around 5lakh workersfrom other states in the portal, said a senior official in the department.

As of now, the department would have captured around 15% of the total workforce, which accounts for around 30 to 35 lakh people in various sectors. A majority of them hailed from Madhya Pradesh,Uttar Pradesh,Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh,Odishaand Jharkhand. They account for a significant number in textiles and garments, brick kiln, and construction and manufacturing sectors.

State, GSI to conduct survey to identify magnetic anomaly

The has decided to sign anMoUwith Geological Survey of India (GSI) for conducting remote sensing and aerial survey of the southern part of the state to identify magnetic anomaly on the surface representing the presence of rocks having a higher content of ferrous and ferromagnesian Minerals, an official said. For the first time inBihar, such a survey will be conducted by the Remote Sensing and Aerial Survey Division (RSAS), GSI (Bengaluru) in Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Nalanda and Jamui districts in the state.

Anomaly that will be obtained by DMG will be checked by drilling to prove the presence of magnetite-bearing rocks as well as ultramafic rocks which usually host Chromite, Nickel, Platinum Group of Elements (PGE) and gold. This will help in enhancing the mineral resource potentiality of the state, the official said.

The survey will also identify the magnetic anomaly on the surface representing the presence of rocks having a higher content of ferrous minerals, Bamrah said.

The aeromagnetic survey data of the Mahulan (Aurangabad), Patalganga (Jehanabad), Bathani (Nalanda) andMajos(Jamui) area are required by the DMG for identification of subsurface magnetite/ultramafic band in the entire stretch, said the additional chief secretary.

CM Nitish Kumar ordered the officials of the science & technology and the Health & medical Education departments to take necessary steps to reserve minimum 33.3% seats for girls at the time of admission in all engineering and medical colleges.

Bihar would become the first state (in the country) to provide a 33.3% horizontal quota for girls in the technical college.

Patna airport drops four places in service rankings

Despite registering a steep Growth in passenger traffic, the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna dropped four places, from 70th to 74th position, in the first quarter (January-March) of Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey for 2023, compared to the fourth quarter (October-December) last year.

As per the latest rankings released by the Council International (ACI), the overall scoring ofPatna airportstood at 4.67 points, compared to 4.68 points earlier.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials said out of the 15 airports surveyed between January and March this year, Patna airport ranked 13th on 33 parameters to assess the satisfaction level of passengers.

The parameters on which the airport gained were value for Money of the selected mode of transport (4.56 points), courtesy and helpfulness of staff in the check-in area (4.64), courtesy and helpfulness of security screening staff (4.63), shops (4.44), Wi-Fi service quality (3.92), availability of charging stations (4.12) and Health safety (4.58).

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar reviews Darbhanga airport development, assures more amenities soon

The number of flights from Darbhanga airport would be increased and more passenger amenities would be provided soon, chief minister Nitish Kumar announced.

A presentation was made before the CM on the development of Darbhanga airport. Nitish said the airport would be named after the legendary Maithili poet Vidyapati and a resolution to this effect has been unanimously passed by the state assembly.

The CM said the airport whose foundation was laid in 2018 has come as a boon for the Mithilanchal region and other parts of Bihar neighbouring areas. He asked officials to hold talks with the officials of the Authority of India (AAI) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) to develop the Darbhanga airport because it was important for the people of north Bihar and adjoining areas.
