Wheat procurement target increased to 7 lakh MT: CM Nitish Kumar

Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Thursday increased the wheat procurement target for the 2020-21 rabi Marketing season to 7 lakh metric tonnes (MT) and also directed the food and Consumer protection department (FCPD) and cooperative department to maximise procurement over the next one-month period ending on May 31.

revised to April 20 and the target was fixed at 1 lakh MT, sources said.

The harvesting of wheat had become brisk from the first week of April. Incidentally, the Centre has fixed the MSP for wheat procurement at Rs 1,975 per quintal. In the open market, the purchase price for wheat is in the range from Rs 1,600-1,700 per quintal, reports said.

Bihar govt cancels 39.36 lakh MGNREGA job cards

The rural development ministry of the has cancelled 39.36 lakh MGNREGA job cards of inactive labourers in the state.
The affected labourers had not worked a single day in the last three years and were still earning Money through this scheme.

reported from Patna, Vaishali, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur and Darbhanga district. A large number of labourers took the money under Indira Awas Yojana and PM Awas Yojana and built their houses on the basis of job cards but did not work a single day as a labour under MGNREGA.

The state government has linked 88.31 lakh job cards with Aadhaar last year and the total number of MGNREGA labourers reached 2 crore 35 lakh in the state. The officials have found 39.36 lakh job cards were fake, not linked with Aadhaar and other reasons. Hence, the department has cancelled them.Some more job cards will be cancelled in future, the official further said.

Natural HISTORY Society (BNHS) are jointly conducting the Asian Waterbird Census, an annual survey of waterbird species, in order to ascertain the exact number of varieties of indigenous and migratory waterbirds in the state.

The wetlands being surveyed include Kabar Lake in Begusarai (which was declared a Ramsar Site in November 2020),Kusheshwar Asthanin Darbhanga,Goga Hillin Katihar, Sarotar Lake in East Chamaparan and Nagi Nakti dam in Jamui.

Move to convert Gaya govt press into a museum

The more than 108-year-old government jail press, which once fulfilled the requirements of printing all documents, would be developed as a museum.

A proposal with this regard would be sent to the government. The British period press is spread in an area of around seven acres. There are several rare machines more than 150 years old with tag of manufacturing date and the country where it was made. The machines had been made inEnglandand Germany.

PM Awas Yojana : 2.21 lakh beneficiaries get notices in Bihar

under the scheme even though the required for the purpose had been released into their personal bank accounts.

are responsible to monitor and motivate the beneficiaries regarding the construction of their pucca houses in time, Rs 1.20 lakh is given to each beneficiary in three instalments to get the construction done under the scheme.

Sources said 1.27 lakh beneficiaries have been served ‘white’ notice, which are like a warning to get their pucca houses constructed so as to escape the departmental action against them.

There are seven districts — Gaya, East Champaran, Madhubani, Begusarai, Nawada, Araria and Madhepura — where the number of defaulter beneficiaries is in the range of around 25,000 to over 11,000, in the descending order.

Increase Bihar’s greencover to 17%, says CM Nitish Kumar

Chief ministerNitish Kumar asked the officials concerned to work for increasing the state’s green cover from existing 15% to 17%.

Chief minister (CM)Nitish Kumarwill embark on his three-week-long campaign for social reforms, christened Samaj Sudhar Abhiyan, from Motihari.

As part of the campaign, he will visit all nine divisions across the state and hold public meetings to make people aware of the benefits of liquor and bad impacts of dowry system and child marriage on the Society.

As per an official order issued by the cabinet secretariat departments (CSD) additional chief secretary Sanjay Kumar, the CM will hold public meetings at 12 district headquarters as part of his campaign.
The CM will cover one district each in six divisions Saran, Darbhanga, Kosi, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Gaya. He will

cover two districts each in three other divisions Tirhut, Patna and Munger.
