Wheat procurement target increased to 7 lakh MT: CM Nitish Kumar

Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Thursday increased the wheat procurement target for the 2020-21 rabi Marketing season to 7 lakh metric tonnes (MT) and also directed the food and Consumer protection department (FCPD) and cooperative department to maximise procurement over the next one-month period ending on May 31.

While the earlier date for the start of wheat procurement was April 15, it was further revised to April 20 and the target was fixed at 1 lakh MT, sources said.

The harvesting of wheat had become brisk from the first week of April. Incidentally, the Centre has fixed the MSP for wheat procurement at Rs 1,975 per quintal. In the open market, the purchase price for wheat is in the range from Rs 1,600-1,700 per quintal, reports said.

Rs 298-crore masterplan for Bihar’s Khagaria

A Rs 298-cr master plan has been drawn for the all rounddevelopment of Khagaria town,KhagariaNagar Parishad chairperson Archana Kumari said.

The drainage schemes would be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs45 crore while Rs30 crore would be spent on the repairing of lanes, bylanes and various roads, community centre would be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 50 cr, Rs 10 cr on the renovation of drainages system, Rs 25 cr on the purchase of fogging machines and dustbins, Rs 2 cr on the repairing of high-mast Light while the local bus stand would be renovated at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore.

Bihar govt cancels 39.36 lakh MGNREGA job cards

The rural development ministry of the has cancelled 39.36 lakh MGNREGA job cards of inactive labourers in the state.
The affected labourers had not worked a single day in the last three years and were still earning Money through this scheme.

According to an official, the state government has taken the initiative as the Aadhaar card did not match with the job cards of MGNREGA labourers. Maximum number of cancellations are being reported from Patna, Vaishali, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur and Darbhanga district. A large number of labourers took the money under Indira Awas Yojana and PM Awas Yojana and built their houses on the basis of job cards but did not work a single day as a labour under MGNREGA.

The state government has linked 88.31 lakh job cards with Aadhaar last year and the total number of MGNREGA labourers reached 2 crore 35 lakh in the state. The officials have found 39.36 lakh job cards were fake, not linked with Aadhaar and other reasons. Hence, the department has cancelled them.Some more job cards will be cancelled in future, the official further said.

First waterbird census on in Bihar

The first-ever count of waterbirds in the wetland areas is being conducted inBiharfrom February 16 to 26. State forest, Environment and https://exam.pscnotes.com/Climate-change”>Climate Change department and the Bombay Natural HISTORY Society (BNHS) are jointly conducting the Asian Waterbird Census, an annual survey of waterbird species, in order to ascertain the exact number of varieties of indigenous and migratory waterbirds in the state.

The wetlands being surveyed include Kabar Lake in Begusarai (which was declared a Ramsar Site in November 2020),Kusheshwar Asthanin Darbhanga,Goga Hillin Katihar, Sarotar Lake in East Chamaparan and Nagi Nakti dam in Jamui.

Move to convert Gaya govt press into a museum

The more than 108-year-old government jail press, which once fulfilled the requirements of printing all documents, would be developed as a museum.

A proposal with this regard would be sent to the government. The British period press is spread in an area of around seven acres. There are several rare machines more than 150 years old with tag of manufacturing date and the country where it was made. The machines had been made inEnglandand Germany.

As per old records, the press was established in 1914 by the British government and the machines were shifted here from Dhaka in then undivided Bengal. Known asBihargovernment press and forms, it fulfilled the requirements of various types of forms used in all the government offices like Police, court, sales tax, revenue, Health, Education and others.

PM Awas Yojana : 2.21 lakh beneficiaries get notices in Bihar

The rural development department (RDD) has served ‘white’ and ‘red’ notices on 2.21 lakh beneficiaries of thePM Awas Yojana(gramin) in the state for not constructing pucca houses allotted under the scheme even though the required for the purpose had been released into their personal bank accounts.

While the department’s Awaas Sahayak (AS) and Awaas Paryavekshak (AP) are responsible to monitor and motivate the beneficiaries regarding the construction of their pucca houses in time, Rs 1.20 lakh is given to each beneficiary in three instalments to get the construction done under the scheme.

Sources said 1.27 lakh beneficiaries have been served ‘white’ notice, which are like a warning to get their pucca houses constructed so as to escape the departmental action against them.

There are seven districts — Gaya, East Champaran, Madhubani, Begusarai, Nawada, Araria and Madhepura — where the number of defaulter beneficiaries is in the range of around 25,000 to over 11,000, in the descending order.

Manjusha painting to be displayed at Rajpath

The indigenous visual art form of Bhagalpur-Manjusha painting-will be displayed at Rajpath during the Republic Day celebration in New Delhi, deputy collector Manish Kumar said.
The 16-metre long art work is painted by Manoj Pandit and his disciple Aman Sagar. Manoj is considered an icon of the art form.

According to sources, the painting was prepared at an art workshop organised at Bhubaneshwar by the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, a wing of the Union ministry of culture in collaboration with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) in December 2021. The workshop was a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme and intended to celebrate the heroics and struggles of the unsung freedom fighters of Indian national movement.

Increase Bihar’s greencover to 17%, says CM Nitish Kumar

Chief ministerNitish Kumar asked the officials concerned to work for increasing the state’s green cover from existing 15% to 17%.

The state was left with just 9% of green cover after its bifurcation. “Massive plantation drives launched in 2012 saw the plantation of as many as 22 crore saplings in coming years. The state’s green cover has now reached 15%.

The CM looked very anguished over the increasing trend of stubble burning across the state and asked the officials to launch extensive campaigns to put a check on it.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to begin social reform campaign

Chief minister (CM)Nitish Kumarwill embark on his three-week-long campaign for social reforms, christened Samaj Sudhar Abhiyan, from Motihari.

As part of the campaign, he will visit all nine divisions across the state and hold public meetings to make people aware of the benefits of liquor and bad impacts of dowry system and child marriage on the Society.

As per an official order issued by the cabinet secretariat departments (CSD) additional chief secretary Sanjay Kumar, the CM will hold public meetings at 12 district headquarters as part of his campaign.
The CM will cover one district each in six divisions Saran, Darbhanga, Kosi, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Gaya. He will cover two districts each in three other divisions Tirhut, Patna and Munger.

Prepare better agri road map, says Nitish Kumar

CMNitish Kumar asked the officials to prepare a better work plan and targets for the state’s fourth Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture road map. The term (2017-2022) of the thirdagriculture road mapof Bihar has been extended up to March 31, 2023.

The state’s third agriculture road map (2017-2022) was launched on November 8, 2017 by the then President of India Ram Nath Kovind in the presence of then governor Satya Pal Malik and chief minister Nitish Kumar at Bapu Sabhagar here.
Involving an amount of Rs1.54 lakh crore, the third agriculture road map was aimed at increasing the income of farmers and ensure of the agriculture sector by emphasizing on Organic Farming through development of organic corridors.
