Works of housing for poor scheme gets momentum in AP

Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) officials are gearing up to finish the layout works of housing for the poor scheme at Nidamarru, Nekkallu, Krishnayapalem, Navuluru, Ainavolu, Mandadam, Kuragallu, Yerrabalem, Pitchukalapalem, Borupalem, and Ananthavaram. The house sites will be distributed to the poor people in NTR and Guntur district.

The APCRDA officials said that as many as 25 layouts are under development on the 1,402.58 acres of extent. The has decided to distribute house sites to around 50,004 beneficiaries in these layouts. Out of the 25 layouts, 14 with an extent of 583.93 acres were allotted to the NTR district, and 11 layouts with an extent of 550.65 acres to the Guntur district.

Andhra Pradesh government spent Rs 85,000 crore on agriculture in last two years

The has spent close to Rs 85,000 crore on theagriculturesector in the last two years as chief ministerYS Jagan Mohan Reddyis firm on providing full support to farmers. Setting up of over 10,000 Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), a field-level one-stop support centre for farmers, is an initiative of the YSRC government.

The state government has so far disbursed Rs 17,030 crore to about 52.38 lakh farmers under YSR Rythu Bharosa PM Kisan Scheme in the last two years.

The government has already set up 10,778 YSR Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) across the state to provide Services to farmers in their neighbourhood. RBKs will extend support to farmers from seed to crop sale.

Government-certified non-contaminated, quality seeds, quality fertilisers, quality pesticides, e-crop registration, crop Insurance, zero interest loans, crop purchasing center services, Soil testing, agricultural expert advice, agricultural prices monitoring at the village level, market details and weather forecasts are made available in the RBKs.

RBKs would also provide training on advanced technologies to fishermen and aqua farmers. The government is also taking measures for supply of quality seed, feed supplements, medicines, nets, other inputs required for Livestock, Poultry, and Fisheries.

AP seeks KRMB nod for water from Sagar

The has requested Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to allow it to utilize 13tmcft water forSagarright canal ayacut and drinking water needs.

The state has objected to KRMB asking it to stop using water fromNagarjuna Sagardam. The state said about 193 tmc ft water was left unutilized from APs quota whileTelanganahad utilized in excess of its quota.

The state also demanded KRMB to account for total utilization of water by both states. The state demanded KRMB to convene a full-board meeting to discuss water consumption by both states.

Andhra Pradesh likely to reach 240 MU per day electricity demand by March 2023

An action plan is being implemented by the power utilities ofAndhra Pradeshto meet the expected energy demand for this March-May quarter, which is forecasted at 20,143 million units. This translates to a 5.6 per cent increase compared to 19,066 MU for the same period in 2021.

According to state officials, the utilities are preparing a long-term action plan to meet the future demand of 240 MU per day by 2023. The utilities have laid a special focus on meeting the increasing electricity demand and providing uninterrupted, quality power to consumers of all categories.

Grid officials of APTransco said the actual energy demand in February 2022 was 5,574 MU and the peak demand was 11,342 MW. It is forecasted that the Average demand in April 2022 would be 222.8 MU per day, while the demand is expected to touch around 240 MU by March-2023 with an increase of demand by 18 MU per day.

Andhra Pradesh wool production nil as focus shifts to meat market

Andhra Pradesh, which used to produce about 7-8 lakhkgof wool per annum until a few years ago, did not produce any wool in 2021-22. Till 2014, the state accounted for nearly 11% of the total wool production in the country. The production saw a gradual decline over the years, and it has now come down to zero.

As per the Union governments basic animal husbandry statistics 2022, this is due to the states shift to meat production-based cultivation. Even in the country as a whole, wool production decreased by about 10.3% in 2022 compared to a year ago. While ewes contributed to 63.8% of the total wool production, ram/wether and lamb contributed to only 18.86% and 17.37%, respectively.

Of the 9.29 million tonnes of meat production, over 51% came from . The top five meat producing states in 2022 wereMaharashtra(12.25%), Uttar Pradesh (12.14%), West Bengal (11.63%), Andhra Pradesh (11.04%), and Telangana (10.82%). They together amounted to 57.86% of total meat production in the country during the last financial year.
Andhra Pradesh was also among the top five milk producing states. The state has a per capita availability of 799 grams of milk a day almost two times higher thanthe nationalaverage of 444 grams. The milk production from exotic/crossbred cattle increased by 6.16% and indigenous/non-descript cattle by 6.13% in 2021-22 as compared to previous year. The milk production from buffaloes also witnessed an improvement by 4.44%. Nearly 31.58% of the total milk production was contributed by indigenous buffaloes, with crossbred cattle contributing 29.91%. The total export of Livestock and livestock products was valued at 46,083 crore.

Central government will pay 689 crore to Andhra Pradesh towards GST compensation, says Nirmala Sitharaman

The Central government has accepted that 689 crore is pending to Andhra Pradesh as GST compensation for the period between April and June, 2022 and this will be cleared in the near future.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while responding to a question raised by YSR Congress Party MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry in the Lok Sabha on February 6 (Monday) said, Taking into account the back-to-back loan of 2,311 crore in the 2020-21 financial year and 3,272 crore in 2021-22 fiscal year released to Andhra Pradesh in lieu of GST compensation and the release of bimonthly GST compensation from July 2017 to June 2022, only 689 crore is pending to the State toward GST compensation for the period April and June, 2022.

As per the provision of GST (Compensation to States) Act, 2017 and taking into account 1.10 lakh crore for FY 2020-21 and 1.59 lakh crore for FY 2021-22 released to States as back-to-back loan in lieu of GST compensation, the entire GST compensation dues of States including Andhra Pradesh has been cleared by the Central government till May 31, 2022.

During the 2022-23 fiscal year, the Central government decided to release full compensation up to May 31, 2022, despite insufficient amount in the Compensation Fund, by meeting the required balance from its own Resources to the extent of 62,000 crore in May 2022 and 17,000 crore again in November 2022, to assist the States in managing their resources.

Incubation centre for Andhra University campus

Software Technology Parks of India will set up an incubation centre onAndhra Universitycampus with 19.75 crore.

STPI (Hyderabad) director CVDRam Prasadmet AU vice-chancellor Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy on Friday and handed over the official communique.

The incubation centre will come up on about 25,000 square feet space in the varsity. Ram Prasad said the centre will be further extended, but only 19.75 crore will be spent on the first phase.

Visakhapatnam: Plots for middle class planned on 363 acres

The has accorded its permission to Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority to develop two MIG (middle income group) layouts in about 363 acres.
One layout will be developed in about 269.3 acres in GS Agraharam and Ramavaram villages, and the other one in Palavalasa (93.8 acres) in the Vizag suburbs.

The state government is planning to develop MIG plots in the Urban Local Bodies across the state under Jagananna Smart Towns. The demand survey for the MIG plots under this scheme received about 3.9 lakh applications from the prospective buyers.

As part of the same, theVMRDAidentified these different land pockets in the district. As per the preliminary guidelines of the scheme, the plots will be developed in three different sizes 150, 200 and 240 square yards.

State govt eyes capital shift to Vizag after Ugadi

The proposed shifting of the capital to Visakhapatnam is likely to become a reality afterUgadithis year, if the talk in the YSR Congress is analysed. Several ministers have been talking about the shifting and the chief ministers office has made up its mind to move in April, sources said.

Sources said that chief minister YS JaganMohan Reddyhas decided to move to Visakhapatnam, which was declared as the executive capital. However, he is waiting for the cases pending in The Supreme Court challenging his decision.

Andhra Pradesh government buys more mobile medical units to bring medical services to doorstep

The Andhra Pradesh government is purchasing 539 new mobile medical units (MMUs), in addition to the existing 676, at a cost of Rs 89.72 crore to drive the family physician concept in Conjunction with the 1,145 primary Health centres (PHCs).

Till July last year, there was one MMU for every 2.27 mandals in the state, covering a Population of 1,30,136.

With the addition of 539 new vehicles, every mandal will have a mobile medical unit to cover a population of 56,213.

Each PHC has two doctors, both of whom will tour villages under their jurisdiction in turns, in the MMUs and render medical Services to villagers.
