Setting its focus on unexplored mining areas, the has decided to close down the existing state highway for a distance of about 4 km nearChimakurthyinPrakasamdistrict. This will facilitate the government to create an exclusive mining zone.

Thousands of acres of land in the villages of Rajupalem, Lakshmipuram and Budavada, close to Chimakurthy have already been excavated since the discovery of galaxy granite in the region. Sources said reserves in areas on both the sides of highway are almost empty and the local granite Industry is finding it difficult to extract quality stone.
However, studies by theAndhra PradeshMineral Development Corporation (APMDC) has found that about 250 to 400 acres of land underneath the state highway holds huge granite reserves. Although the previous TDP government wanted to lease out the area to private developers, it backtracked following protests from locals against plans to close off the roads.
Then roads and buildings minister and granite industrialist Sidda Raghava Rao took the initiative to create a bypass road to Chimakurthy. But with the construction of the bypass road getting delayed, plans to take over the state highway land did not materialise.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Iocl) for setting up a biogas plant at Tirumala.
The plant would be
set up in two acres at an estimated cost of about 12 crore, as a part of the Swachh Bharat campaign. The project cost will be shared by both the stakeholders.According to estimates, about 35 tonnes of garbage is produced atop the temple town on a daily basis and setting up of the plant would help generate 1.6 metric tonnes of gas, which will be used in preparation of food at the Matru Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba Anna Prasadam (free meals) Complex.

The state Cabinet decided to confer full rights andpattasto all originalassigned landowners, who have enjoyed the land parcels for 20 years. In case of death oforiginal beneficiaries, their legal heirs would get the full rights. This will benefit 66,111 persons, who are in control of 63,191. 84 acres of assigned
lands.While enhancing the retirement age of professors working in educational institutions like JNTU from 62 to 65 to overcome the scarcity and of endowment department staff from 60 to 62 years, the Cabinet also gave approval for all temple arachakas to continue in the profession as long as they can work without retirement.
The Cabinet, chaired by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has ratified the proposals approved by the State Investment Promotion Board.
It also approved the welfare calendar for July and decided to do bhoomi puja on July 24 for the construction of 47,000 houses for the poor in 1366 acres of R-5 zone in the CRDA region with an expenditure of Rs 5000 crore.

The firm was appointed in 2017 as the consultant for preparation of detailed project reports and detailed cost estimates for refurbishment and conversion of INS Viraat into a multipurpose tourism destination with a hotel-cum-convention centre and naval maritime museum.
However, the project was shelved due to various reasons. The state government already paid Rs 31.86 lakh out of the Rs 70.8 lakh professional fee (including 18% GST) and has sanctioned the remaining amount.
The state government showed keen interest to turn INS Viraat into a major tourist hub by placing it in Visakhapatnam or some other coastal city. But due to various reasons, the project has not made any headway. INS Viraat, the second Centaur-class aircraft carrier in service which spent 30 years in the INDIAN NAVY and 27 years in the Royal Navy, was decommissioned in March 2017. A private organisation purchased the ship for Rs 35 crore and started dismantling it.

Andhra Pradesh reports about 3,000 to 5,000 new leprosy cases every year. However, the Covid-19 pandemic had its impact on leprosy screening as the new cases were limited to 1,811 in 2020-21 and 1,888 in 2021-22. About 3,160 new cases surfaced in 2022-23. The Health department wants to detect about 50% of the years total new caseload in this month-long screening alone.
The Union Government launched a national strategic plan (NSP) and roadmap for leprosy (2023-27) in January 2023 to achieve zero transmission of leprosy by 2027. The NSP and roadmap contains implementation strategies, year-wise targets, public health approaches and overall technical guidance for the programme.

Water levels in several major and medium reservoirs showed a dip in the summer. The current water storage level was at 428.63tmc-ft (43.58 per cent) against last years storage of 462.03tmc-ft (46.98 per cent) and against the gross capacity of full reservoir level at 983.4 tmc-ft on Tuesday.
Srisailam has a current storage of 33.91tmc- ft (15.71 per cent) against the gross capacity of 215.81tmc-ft, with the current reservoir level being at 809.3 feet.
Nagarjuna Sagar has a current storage of 152.21tmc-ft (48.78
