Andhra Pradesh: Decision to merge schools leaves parents & teachers in a quandary

The ‘sdecisionto merge government schools in line with the Centre’s New Education Policy (NEP) is creating ripples among parents and teachers.
The government directed that the schools with Classes III, IV and V be mapped for merger with the high schools within 3-km.

Academicians say the decision is likely to increase the dropout rate among girls from rural areas as it would be difficult for them to go up to 3 km for a public school.

The state government said that children from Class-III to V crossing the man-managed RAILWAY level crossing gates to reach the schools should not be treated as barriers for merger.

Jagan calls for quality education in schools

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for quality Education in schools and advised the setting up of digital screens in classrooms and ensuring subject teachers in all schools.

On the availability of subject teachers, the CM asked the officials to keep a check on subject teachers in schools. They should be posted in schools where they are not available at present. Postings must be given soon to those recommended by the District Selection Committee -1998, he said.

Andhra Pradesh tops e-transaction list of 8 years in country, Gujarat second

Andhra Pradeshhas topped the chart in the country in terms of volume of e-transactions. As per the data obtained from the Union ministry of electronics and information technologys eTaal platform, Andhra Pradesh recorded 710 croree-transactionssince 2013, the highest among all the states in the country.

Gujarat occupies the second place with 509 crore transactions and stands in the third place with about 470 crore transactions. These three are followed by Kerala (440 crore) and Uttar Pradesh (332 crore)

These transactions include online tax payments, Services delivered under the Public Distribution System, utility bill payments, Banking transactions, commercial taxes, Scholarship distribution, Police services, etc.

The ministry of electronics and information technology launched the platform in 2014 to aggregate the number of e-services being delivered across different states and levels of government.

The unprecedented Growth in the e-transactions in the country can be gauged from the fact the volume has increased to 8,583 crore transactions in 2021 from just 241 crore in 2013.
Likewise, Andhra Pradesh recorded a manifold growth from 43 crore transactions in 2013 to 188 crore in 2018. But it has been on a downward spiral in the last three years with it recording only 92 crore transactions in 2019, 74 crore in 2020 and 48 crore in 2021. However, the state still commands the top place among all the states in the country in terms of transactions since 2013.

The top-10 e-services that have propelled the e-transaction growth in Andhra Pradesh include utility payments, rural development, public distribution system, land revenue, commercial taxes, Health, Education, etc.

According to the officials, Andhra Pradesh is providing a huge number of online services to its people, thereby contributing to the increase in the number of online transactions.
The eTaal has been in nation-wide operation since January 2013 and 4,013 eServices from tens of Central ministries, and all the states and Union Territories have been linked to the dashboard. It has so far recorded over 8,583 crore e-transactions in 2021. This reflects the government-wide acceptability of the initiative in terms of its utility and importance.

Experts highlight Continuous Emission Monitoring System in pollution monitoring system

TheAndhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board(APPCB) in PARTNERSHIP with International Centre for Sustainable Carbon (a technology collaboration arm under International Energy Agency), UK and the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW, Delhi) has organized a workshop on Advanced Level Training-Best Practices and Handling of ContinuousEmission Monitoring System(CEMS) in Vizag city.

This initiative is a part of a capacity building programme in India supported by theUS department of State. Air cargo industry important for Andhra Pradesh’s logistics ecosystem: V Vijay Sai Reddy

Parliamentary Standing Committee member and Rajya Sabha MP V Vijay Sai Reddy said that the air cargo has an important role in the overall Logistics ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy also called on exporters to utilise the cargo terminal facilities available in four Airports in the state.

Reddy said that the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport will have the best-in-class Infrastructure and a dedicated cargo facility.

The state government has cleared the disinvestment proposal of Gangavaram Port Ltd (GPL) and approved the recommendations of the empowered group of secretaries (EGoS), allowing Adani ports and special economic zone (APSEZ) to acquire it.

The government issued a gazette notification on Friday giving its clearance to the , and also authorised the chief executive officer of AP maritime board to take further action on the disinvestment proposal. The EGoS, comprising six senior Ias officers, was constituted on June 4 to implement the entire process of disinvestment and merger of GPL with APSEZ.

The EGoS had submitted its report and recommendations to the State Government in August, which has now been approved. The government has appointed a SEBI-registered valuation advisor (KPMG), a legal advisor (JSA Associates) and a transaction advisor (Grant Thornton) to assist the EGoS in the disinvestment process. In addition to these firms,SBICAPShas been engaged as financial advisor and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas as legal advisor.

The government has also created a special purpose company on May 25 to execute the sale and transfer of government Shares in GPL.

he state government is planning to construct two multi-modellogistic parkson the PPP model. Industries ministerMekapatiGautham Reddy has said that logistic parks will be taken up atKrishnapatnamandKakinadaports.

A hundred acres of land will be spared in each location for construction of the parks, he said. The minister reviewed the progress of different projects initiated by the industries department.

The minister said creating better for movement of goods carriers would be key to the Logistics policy. The government also plans to construct truck parking bays along the state and national highways, he said.

The minister directed officials to expedite works related to the IT towers in Visakhapatnam. He also asked officials to put identified key projects on the fast track. Officials were also asked to carry out additional land acquisition close to Ramayapatnam port, keeping in view future needs.

AP CM Jagan calls for expeditious completion of prioritised irrigation projects

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the state Resources“>Water Resources department to expedite the completion of priority Irrigation projects like Polavaram, Veligonda and Vamsadhara in a time-bound manner.

Chairing a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the department here on Monday, the CM asked them to come up with an action plan and fix the schedule for completion. Hold regular review of the progress in their execution every 15 days, he advised them.

On the Polavaram irrigation project, the officials briefed the CM that works were at a brisk pace. At ECRF dam gap-1, works related to sand filling and vibro compaction were on while at gap-2, the same works were being taken up.

Experts from Union Jal Sakthi ministry and the Central Water Commision inspected the partial sinking of a portion of the guide bund, recently, and veered round the view that this was caused by the nature of the . They advised the irrigation officials to fill up the damaged portion with rock dump and cement slurry, and give support with gaboons.

Araku in Visakhapatnam district second in Nota votes in the country in 2019 elections

Araku parliamentary constituency inVisakhapatnamdistrict stood second in the country in terms of the number of the ‘none of the above’ () votes polled in 2019 general Elections.
According to the ‘General Elections 2019: An Atlas’ recently released by theElection Commission of India, Araku LS constituency polled 47,977 votes under Nota.

This is the second highest Nota votes polled for any Lok Sabha seat in 2019 general elections in the country.

Gopalganj inBiharrecorded the highest number of 51,660 Nota votes followed by Araku. In fact, only YSRCP and TDP candidates could seure more votes than Nota in Araku Lok Sabha constituency, which is spread in tribal areas of four districts, including East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam.

At least 25,000 voters pressed the Nota button in each of the five Lok Sabha constituencies of the state in the 2019 elections, including Araku, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram,Tirupatiand Srikakulam.

The number of female electors outnumbered their male counterparts in the 2019 elections in Andhra Pradesh. While the total electorate is 3,94,05,967, there are 1,98,80,957 (50.45%) female voters. There are 3,957 third gender voters in Andhra Pradesh.

Land resurvey completed in 2,000 villages in A.P., says Minister

Minister for Revenue and Stamps Dharmana Prasada Rao said that the resurvey of land has been completed in 2,000 revenue villages across the State.

Mr. Prasada Rao, Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ch. Venu Gopala Krishna and MP Margani Bharat, and Collector K. Madhavilatha on Sunday inaugurated the Rythu Bharosa Kendra, Panchayat Secretariat and the Tahsildar office in Gopalapuram mandal in East Godavari district.The three government buildings have been built with a 1.5-crore grant.

The government initiated the move following the expiration of the 99-year lease of the land (1,754 acres) given to the Narsapuram Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture Company before Independence. It was given away to the farmers who have been enjoying its possession for some years.
