Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ch. Venu Gopala Krishna said the was working on a committee on the caste census of Backward Classes in Andhra Pradesh.Recently, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced the caste census in the State.

Mr. Bharat claimed that the bhavan would be built with 8.5 crore and be ready in 18 months. Andhra Pradesh govt releases investors friendly New Industrial Policy

Andhra Pradeshindustries minister Gudivada Amarnath said that theYSRCP governmenthas brought the new Industrial Policy even though the existing policys term is to be completed. Many governments would take long gaps in announcing new policies even after the existing policy term was completed. By putting aside this practice, the YSRCP government has brought the 2023-27 New Industrial Policy which isinvestors friendly policy.

Industries ministerGudivada Amaranthreleased the New Industrial Policy and also launched YSR AP One on Monday and said that CM Jagan Mohan Reddy gave priority to many sectors that were neglected by the previous governments. He said the new industrial policy is showcasing the state’s financial Growth. Ware Housing got the ‘s status in the New Policy. The new policy focused on Low-Cast Low-Risk businesses.

The stable government and industrial policy with reforms attracted investors during the Global Investors Summit. The State Government planned to utilize its entire 974 km coastline as CM had decided to construct Ports and fishing harbors, besides Port based industries on 48,000 acres adjacent to these ports and harbours. The state government would encourage land waterways rather than road transport.

Andhra Pradesh govt plans anti-ragging helpline for medical students

Health ministerVidadala Rajaniasked the managements ofmedical collegesto act firmly against incidents of ragging. Following the suicide of a medical student in Hyderabad, allegedly, after ragging, the AP health department has focused onanti-raggingmeasures.

The minister conducted a meeting with principals of medical colleges and enquired about anti-ragging measures put in place. The minister said that teachers should educate students about the consequences of ragging juniors and stringent punishments under various acts.

Andhra Pradesh GST revenue rises by 19%, state joins Rs 3,000 crore club

Andhra Pradeshhas shown an upward move in theGSTcollections in February 2022. The state has given 3,157 crore GST during the month, showing a Growth rate of 19% when compared to the corresponding month in the previous year.

In 2021 February, the states GST collection was 2,653 crore against 3,157 crore collected this February. With this increase, the state moved close towhere the GST collection this year was 4,113 crore against 3,636 crore in February 2021.

By crossing the 3,000 crore mark, Andhra Pradesh joined the club of states like Delhi, Rajasthan, Odisha, Telangana and West Bengal where the GST collection is close to 5,000 crore mark.

Maharastrais the top state in the country giving 19,423 crore, which is the highest collection in the country. It is followed by Karnataka with 9,176 crore, Gujarat with 8,873 crore andTamil Naduwith 7,393 crore.

However, among the top states, the growth rate was low when compared to the growth registered by Andhra Pradesh. Though the GST collections is more in Telangana, the growth rate from February 2021 to February 2022 is just 13%.

Andhra Pradesh government postpones ban on flex banners to January 26

TheAndhra Pradesh governmenthas postponed the ban on plastic (vinyl)flex bannersto January 26.
As per the original schedule, the wanted to enforce the ban.

However, the government decided to temporarily put off the ban to allow the Industry to make suitable alternatives.

The CM wanted to make AP, a plastic free state by 2027 and ban on vinyl banners is also a step towards bringing down the plastic waste.

After a memorandum of understanding for offering a one-year diploma programme to Sri Lankan women entrepreneurs two days ago,Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapatnamis all set to enter into an agreement with the National Centre for GoodGovernance(NCGG) for joint research, policy formulation, case study documentation and academic title granting programmes.

Less than 1% of pupils taking NEET in Telugu

About 1.44 lakh candidates fromAndhra PradeshandTelanganaregistered their names to appear forthe nationaleligibility-cum-entrancetestundergraduate (NEET-UG) 2023. But only some 1,300 candidates opted to write the exam in . While the number of students attemptingNEETin Telugu has remained more or less the same in the last five years, registrations from the two Telugu states are going northwards with each passing year.

Conducting the exam in regional languages is supposed to create a level playing field for students who did their intermediate (10+2) and/or schooling in Telugu medium. It is also opined that Telugu question paper may help them understand the questions thoroughly and encourage them to attempt the exam with full confidence. However, the fewer registrations in Telugu speak an altogether different story.

As per National Testing Agency (NTA) data for the last five years, the number of students who choose Telugu faded compared to those who opted for other regional languages in NEET. While English was the favourite, Hindi continued its supremacy as the second most registered language. For example, 16.7 lakh students registered for the exam in English in 2023, followed by Hindi (2.76 lakh), Gujarati (53,027), Bengali (43,890), Tamil (30,536), Assamese (3324), Urdu (1695), etc. All the 11 regional languages accounted for only 1.38 lakh combined registrations.

In Visakhapatnam, the Araku Lok Sabha seat was split into 2 districts. In an undivided Andhra Pradesh, a new district was established in 1979.

National highways in Andhra Pradesh doubled in 7 years, says Nitin Gadkari

Andhra Pradesh has bagged several key projects particularly in the development ofnationalhighways in the last seven years as the Centre has doubled the total length ofNHsby spending a whopping Rs 35,000 crore.

Responding to a query posed by BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao, Union road transport and highways minister NitinGadkarion Wednesday said the national highways in AP were doubled in the last seven years of Narendra Modis tenure.

He said the total length of national highways which were spread over 4,193 km in 2014, have now touched 8,183 km with almost 100 per cent increase. Gadkari said the Centre is willing to develop important stretches of highways inGunturdistrict soon after getting the feasibility reports.

Andhra Pradesh: Transgender protection cell inaugurated at police headquarters

P CID Additional DGP PVSunil Kumarinaugurated a state-level transgender protection cell in AP Police headquarters in Mangalagiri, as per the orders of DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy.

Similarly, in 2020, the Transgender Protection Rules were made by theSupreme Courtin the case of the National Legal Services Authority v/s Union of India. “The central and state governments have been told to provide reservations in Education and jobs for transgenders. The protection cell will be functioning under the district magistrate in every district to ensure that transgenders are respected,” he said.

Further, he said that orders have been given to the local police authorities in every district to conduct awareness programmes on transgenders.

Prakash Reddy, director of the department for welfare of differently-abled senior citizens and transgenders who attended the programme said that only 3,800 transgenders have the right to vote in the state, but according to the Population survey, there are 28,000 transgenders and they get 3,000 as pension every month. “Housetitles will also be given and they will also be given opportunities in student job opportunities,” Sunil Kumar added.
