The state cabinet gave its sanction to the government’s proposal to draw Rs125 crore from the contingency fund in two chunks for the ex gratia payment to the next of kin of the persons who died due to the Covid-19 or will succumb to the infection caused by it during the 2021-22 financial year.
Cabinet secretariat department special secretary Upendra Nath Pandey said Rs105 crore would be spent on making the ex gratia payment of Rs4 lakh against each deceased person.
The remaining chunk of Rs20 crore will be used for the payment of Rs50,000 to the next of kin of the deceased.
