With a view to protecting the people ofBiharfrom the Health hazards of ever-rising Air Pollution, the is likely to launch a state-levelclean air action planwith the technical support from theWorld Bank. A detailed road map for the implementation of Bihar Clean Air Action Plan is in progress.
The Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB)s chairmanAshok Kumar Ghoshpointed out that one round of discussion with the World Bank team on this plan has already been held and the team is likely to finalise this plan soon. The Planning Commission has also sanctioned funds for the provision of clean air to the people of the state.
The state-level clean air action plan would be multi-spectral in nature, envisaging medium to long-term targets for cleaning the polluted air. The entire Indo-Gangetic plain has been marked as an area of increased air pollution due to higher concentration of PM2.5 matter in the Atmosphere.
