In a move to address the issues related to environmental change, the has decided to create aClimate Change Cellin the Environment, Forest,Science and Technology(EFST) Department. The cell will study Climate-change”>Climate Change issues through Ecosystem based Approach (EbA) on par with Indias National Action Plan On Climate Change and paving the way to effectively tackle the global challenge of climate change.
The cell will liaise with external funding agencies of the Union Government to identify projects and schemes for implementation of the Climate Change State Action Plan.
The Climate Change Cell in the EFS&T Department will develop mechanism forInter-Departmentalcoordination so as to have periodic interactions with stakeholder line departments such as Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, Health, Industry, energy, housing and urban development, animal Resources development, commerce and transport, and others.
The cell will also interact and coordinate with other state governments, different regulatory authorities, R&D institutions, NGOs including interaction with the international institutions for exchange of information on climate change issues and bring best practices to the state.
