The personneldepartmenthad announced the rules forcontractappointment following the recent cabinet meeting that had amended the rules for contractual hiring ofemployees.
In these rules, the provisions from the recruitment of contractual employees, their removal have been made clear. Recruitment will be done on contractual basis only on those posts which are not regular. In the new rules, there is a provision to regularise the contractual worker after screening by a committee only after regularizing the post, but his old service will not be counted.
Departments cannot keep any employee on contract for more than five years. After the completion
of the five-year contract, it can be extended once for another three years. The appointment will be deemed to be over at the end of the contract period of five years.Government departments will hire contract employees after the approval of the finance department. The contractual employees can be removed by giving three months notice or three months salary. In case service has been terminated before time, one month’s salary for each year of the remaining years of appointment will be given as compensation.
