After 20 years, Madhya Pradesh to get a new water policy

After 20 years, the state is coming up with a new water policy. Lastwater policyof the state was framed in 2003. A water policy deals with every aspect of water in the state starting from availability, distribution, use and issues related with the water management.

The Resources“>Water Resources department is the nodal agency for the job. A presentation would be made in presence of the chief minister on Friday before working out the policy. Apart from government departments, private agencies may also have a role to play in the new water policy.

Water resources department would draft the policy and it would be put up before the cabinet for clearance. Additional chief secretary of the water resources departmentSN Mishrasaid a new water policy is being worked out keeping in mind the need and availability of water in present times. The new policy would deal in all aspects related to water in the state, he added.
