The government of India has made it mandatory for the to link Aadhaar details ofMGNREGAlabourers with their bank accounts for release of their payments/wages. Due to this, there is a delay in the payment of wages of lakhs ofMGNREGA workersin the state.
The Centre has also asked the state to clear payments of mates and masons for releasing its share of material payment under MGNREGA. While 100 per cent of labour payment is done by the Centre, 25% of material payment is done by the state government and 75% by the government of India.
